:: ECS Tuning :: Performance Engine Mount Kit B6/B7 S4

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!

Engine vibrations felt inside the cabin are actual palpable indications of mechanical losses in power efficiency. Every shudder felt through the chassis and transmission represents a misdirection of power that should be routed to the wheels of the vehicle.

For this reason, ECS Tuning has labored tirelessly to engineer the most finely crafted high-performance polyurethane engine and drivetrain mounts available for your Audi.

Featuring 6061-T6 Billet Aluminum anodized housings with tuned polyurethane isolators, DIY'ers will have no problem replacing the mounts themselves.

I've noticed that not many people have adopted using these yet, and since I have, I thought I'd offer my opinion. I was recently having some excessive engine movement, enough so that with hard left turns, such as during autocross, the driveline was misaligned enough so that I couldn't get in 2nd gear. I got a bunch of great suggestions from folks on here, and since I'd been wanting to do all of the mounts anyway, I started with that. Because I've used ECS and been happy in the past, I figured I've give the motor mounts a shot.

I ordered the kit with both motor mounts and snub mount, all from ECS. Ordered the transmission mount from 034 motorsports. I'll say that visually they look great, although this is obviously not going to be a part that you see very readily. I was quite worried about increased NVH, because although I do enjoy autocrossing, I'm not a fan of lots of driveline vibration in a car that I drive daily. That's part of what made me consider ECS's mounts, with their advertisement of little to no increase in NVH.

Install was pretty straightforward, although it did require jacking the engine up a little bit higher than it was sitting before, I'm assuming because the stock motor mounts were pretty worn. It was actually beneficial to have to jack it up, as it enabled me to center the snub mount in the bracket.

Impressions: There was definitely a (slight) increase in engine vibration transmitted to the cabin when first installed. However, it was not enough that my wife, even when asked, could notice a difference. I've now got a couple of thousand miles on the mounts and I think that this has softened up a bit. I would say that now, as compared to stock, there is maybe a 10% increase in vibration, not enough for me to notice it, except right around 1K RPM, it's a little more prominent. All of that to say, I'm not unhappy at all with NVH levels. I would say that shifting is somewhat more "positive," but I cannot say that I've experienced the "amazing" improvement that some have after just the snub mount. I'm trying to be realistic about it, because when reading about all of the installs, I had a hard time believing that one mount could totally transform the car. It 100% does make a difference though. No trouble with CEL, utilizing the included resistors.

Most importantly, the shifting issue was fixed. I don't doubt that mounts from any of the other well-tested manufacturers would have worked as well, but I wanted to give my positive opinion of the ECS mounts, just because there's not a lot of information out there about them. And because, despite sometimes hard to swallow shipping prices, ECS is always my go to website when searching for parts by part number or category, has incredibly detailed pictures, and in my experience has been a great company all around.

They look great, but I guess that's kind of irrelevant. I was just wondering why or what makes these cost 250 when 035 cost 95? It's a pretty straight forward piece of hardware. I'm in the market for new mounts so I'd really be curious to hear some opinions on this.

The stock engine mounts have connectors because the theoretically throw a CEL when they are worn.

I have been running with these motor mounts for about 2K miles and I have to say they are very nice. After changing my old worn out OEM mounts I could see much improvement, especially because my car is a 6MT. The only thing problem I am having now is that I might need a new prop shaft :( The Audi mechanic at Audi of Tucson said that because these mounts are polyurethane and are not Audi spec, that he feels my prop shaft is causing vibrations because of these mounts. On the other hand, my indy Mechanic (fired from Audi of Tucson) said that even if these mounts are not spec, that they lower the engine by just a little amount that it is no concern, and that when I eventually do get my new prop shaft, the prop shaft is easily moveable to higher or lower engine levels. Any feedback would be much appreciated!

Our mounts do not raise or lower the engine in this vehicle. They are the exact same height as the OE mounts. So for them to say that they would cause issues with the prop shaft is simply false.

There is a possibility that your center support bearing is old and worn and this can cause vibrations. Which up until 034 made a bolt on replacement you needed a whole new prop shaft.

Below is the part I'm speaking of.
