Replaced my Rad Cooling fan control module...8E0959501D

Now when I turn on the a/c the rad fans are running on high...

    Replaced the high-pressure switch...same

Do the fans turn off above 2500 rpms?

The old module was a "D" the new an "AG'...

My system worked fine until new module...

    Anyone have simular issue?

When my green temp sensor failed it ran my fans full blast. Which then fried the fan control. Worked perfect after replacing both green sensor and fan control (the higher wattage one).
Did you replace with the higher wattage module or the lower one?
What was the reason to replace the module?

either the ECU is commanding the fan to run on high, or the wiring is connected so that a false command is being sent to the control module or the fan module is defective.

The fan module is brand new...from Audi dealership....
Guess I can try the green temp sensor....
But it worked fine before fan module replaced....

Ah, I don't think it is the green one. I missed the only on with a/c on. When my temp sensor was bad it ran with a/c off also. Are both fans going nuts or just one?
I just went to the store and right when I started the car up with the A/C ON the a/c fan immediately kicked on and ran until I reached the end of the street. (1/4 mile)
Maybe it is just an ambient temperature setting and it is functioning normal.
My fans also kick on for a second after shutdown. (Like some sort of test)

Both of my fans turn on immediately when I engage the A/C. This occurs even on a cold start. The block does not have to be up to temperature.

Do you have the 8E0959501AG fan control module?

My old 8E0959501D fan control module did not do that...

I also bought a new high pressure sensor and replaced it but both fans come on and stay on while the a/c is on...

I just checked and the part number isn't visible without removing a few components. I'll see if I can get to it after work tomorrow.

I dug through my receipts and Audi didn't put the part # on the part invoice. Like old guy I can't see the # either.

Considering the issue didnt exist until I changed the fan control module....makes me think the new module was bad....
Need a known good one to install and verify...

Mike, what led you to replace the original (-D) module in the first place? Pretty sure my -D module has the fans running on high as soon as the A/C is switched on if at idle

My large fan was getting worn and its plactic blades began to rub the surrounding housing and make odd noises...

So I decided to replace both my 10+ year old fans.

While splicing in the new wires one of the electrical terminals of my old J293 broke off, so I bought a new one.

According to Audi..the "D" was no longer available and superceeded to the "AG"...

Prior to me installing the AG, my D version never ran the fans when the a/c was first turned on and then kept them on all the time, like the AG is doing now. The D would cycle the fans dependant on the high pressure switch...on...off...
This prompted me to replace the high pressure switch(thrust sensor) but it didnt fix it...

So now when I turn on my a/c the fans are on high all the time the a/c is on and do not switch off unless I turn the a/c off.

I'm going to break out the volt meter this after noon and further trouble shoot.

Its just odd my system worked fine prior to new J239 and now has this issue after...which would make me believe the new fan control module is bad...no setting I have found via VCDS to change...

I have another one coming in a couple days to help trouble shoot...as well as the accociated temp sensors.

Hopefully the volt meter will help pin point the issue.

Here ya go. Both of my fans come on when I turn on the A/C regardless of the block temperature.

Mike, I just replaced my old -D part with a new -AG part. My fans come on as soon as the A/C does, but not on high. My fan used to come on high w/AC on as soon as I pulled into my garage, or stopped moving after driving; now it doesn't with the -AG part. Engine also seems to come up to temp a lot quicker (~2 mins) as well.

    Thanks Matt.

I cannot find confirming info on the AG control module...but 2 separate Audi dealership mechanics I spoke with stated
It makes the fans come on with the a/c and they stay on all the while the a/c is on.

Me living where its over 100+ degrees....seems to help.

I was just use to the fans being regulated by the a/c thrust sensor on my previous
    Fan control module...

I actually bought another AG control module for testing and it did the same.

Howdy gents - when you did the 8E0959501D to 8E095950AG replacement, how did the wires line up? just color code them even though they are on different locations on the FCM?
