You really plan on running a muffler delete on a test pipe? PLEASE take a video of this when you're done with it so we can hear how it sounds.

Something about making a car sound like its faster than it really is makes me smile. You really are looking to get pulled over....

OK. I know i'm old and my taste probably runs considerably different than a lot of the younger crowd. But really, a four banger with no mufflers?? Nothing sweet about it. Just one ugly BLAAATTT going down the road. You really need a few more cylinders to pull it off.

We had a customer do muffler delete on a B5 1.8T with side outlet, you could not even hear yourself think. I looked in the backseat and he had two child seats, I wonder what they thought about daddies car?

In no way was I referring to it sounding better on a manual. Both ways will sound like crap, but being an auto is a little worse.

Dude if you are tight on money and want an exhaust you could have your mufflers replaced for a few hundred bucks. You will save even more if you buy them yourself and reuse the stock tips. $300 bucks max is what it should cost.

Personally I would use Magnaflow and I know a few guys on here have used them as well. Flowmasters are overrated and overpriced. Search youtube for some audio clips.

I agree with going magnaflow, that's what I have on my car. If your budget is tight, pick up two mufflers and have the stock ones replaced then replace the rest down the road. It's not optimum but will give you that sounds you're wanting making you broke. If you're thinking of going stage 1 down the road and going to upgrade your exhaust first, i'd suggest 2.25" over 2.00" in your link.

Just because you can't afford a $1k exhaust doesn't mean you should make your car like shit instead. Do like Precise mentioned and replace your mufflers with something decent for a few hundred. Why would you want to go around town and have EVERYONE you go past think "wtf is wrong with that guys car?"

If it were me, I would save that $100 towards getting the car tuned, or towards a test pipe ($150) or techtonics 2.5" downpipe for $250

I was the idiot months back that asked what would happen if i took the resonator off and I got bullshit also. Live with it and spend the couple of hundred bucks, I decided not to because its a damn 4 banger with a egg sized turbo. Accept the criticism, people on here aren't going to blast you unless you take it that way

the thing is, when it comes time to chip your car, you'll be wishing you installed a downpipe/test pipe for more gains, because after the test pipe/downpipe, the rest of the exhaust isn't restrictive on our car.

He already has a test pipe. With a good muffler, he'll actually have a decent exhaust. More than sufficient for a 1/1+ tune.

I have flow masters and since you're on a stock set-up and planning on going to stage 1 soon, I will tell you this... The flow master set up has the worst f@#ing drone on the planet going down the freeway, it goes away after 3500 rpm or below 2500 but between there (which is where most of my driving sits atleast) it's f#$%ing miserable, have to blast my stereo to get away from it, I will be switching to APR stealth or a Borla set up as soon as I can.

Op, just slide under the car and loosen and slip out the downpipe from the center section of the exhaust. Its 100% reversible, free, and you wont have to cut your exhaust up.

It will sound like this. Partial throttle, windows up to about 60.

OP a good thread to familiarize yourself would be the "Questions you thought were to dumb to ask" the title is misleading, it's not nessicarily stupid questions but rather questions that do not require in depth diagnostic discussion. You don't get the criticism and you get the same answers as all the people who have responded to this frequent that thread including OG, preciseD, Texas and many others... I havent actually read all of it but subscribe to it, keep up with it, you learn a lot and don't get insulted for asking a possibly silly question.

I just got done replacing the exhaust on my avant. PO had deleted the mufflers and it sounded horrible. I made it 3 days of daily driving before taking it to an exhaust shop. I was fortunate enough to still have my magnaflow exhaust from my old sedan. Had them install the full magnaflow exhaust, tt dp, and HFC. Still isn't as loud as the old setup but far more enjoyable to listen to.
