coolant ratio

i did a search and i came up with 50/50 for our cars but some said that more water to coolant ratio will help keep temp down...i live in socal so i don't have to worry bout freezing temps...can anyone chime in on this?

have people tried "Peak" coolant from pep boys?...is that a good replacement or should i use the g12?

Not sure the total, but just what I drained out of the radiator and reserviour was about 2400ml

so you got about 1.7L of water and .7L of coolant in the system now?

I was thinking of trying engine ice and water, I've heard good things about it. Don't mix water wetter with the G12, bad things happen. I will post results of my experiment from this week with that stuff later this weekend.

Well, my mixture was 75% water, 25% coolant when I put it in last night......so I figured with the 60 % coolant, and 40% water that was still in the lines and turbo, I came out to approximately 70-30 ratio. To answer your question, I put 1800ml of water and 600ml of coolant(G12) in last night.

Did you drain the system from the driver side drain port or from the turbo?

Drivers side drain port......didn't bother with the stuff in the turbo since I just reinstalled the new K04 a couple months ago, and put new coolant in then.

Read Pg. 253 of Manual. It basically states a 50% ratio (not to exceed 60%).

G12 Coolants:

1) Audi/VW G12
2) Motul Inugel Optimal
3) Pentosin G12


Protection with Motul Inugel Optimal Ultra (concentrate):

-22 C / -8 F | 132 C / 269 F | 33%

-30 C / -22 F | 134 C / 273 F | 40%

-41 C / -42 F | 136 C / 277 F | 50%

-54 C / -65 F | 139 C / 282 F | 60%


Then of course there's Engine Ice, Red Line Water Wetter and others. I would stick with G12 if you have warranty concerns. If not, use whatever you want. And the % ratio depends on temps. Personally, I wouldn't use those 'off-the-shelf' brands.
