Quattro Conversion

So I wasnt fortunate enough to get a quattro and ended up with a FWD audi. I just moved to new england and while i love my car, I have found out that the winters are a little worse than i though even with snow tires. As such I am wondering if it is possible to do a quattro conversion. There is a donor car in a junkyard nearby, and I would like to know if it is feasible and if so what parts would i need. I know it has been done on a B7, but how much more complicated is it on the b8? Also yes I have searched which is how i found out about the b7 conversion lol.

Even though the base plates on the B8 FWD and Q are the same, the parts alone will set you back several thousand + labor, so it's not worth it. Just trade your car in for a quattro.

the thing is the parts are relatively cheap here comparitively and i am looking at the feasibility of me doing the work myself as it looks relatively straight forward. This is why I asked for a list of the parts that would be needed.

I would guess it would be cheaper and far easier to trade it in and get a quattro. Also will come with peace of mind that the car was intended to have quattro...therefore less chance of issues.

I can just imagine how this conversion would frustrate the shit out of the next owner and anyone who has to repair it. What a nightmare.

Why would it frustrate people? If done right then there is no worries. And why is everyone so against, they have done it in the b5 b6 and b7's.

Just cut your losses and get a quattro, the resale of a car listed as a FWD but is Quattro would send everyone running. Unless your car is paid off this is really not worth IT . BTW does this donor car have a gray or tan interiour?

considering your sig says you havent done much work... sell your car and buy another one.

your talking about replacing more than you think; transmission, computers, differentials ect. not worth it for any reason. this is not bolt on work.

Otherwise, does this donor have wood trim?

It might have wood trim. Its at force5 auto in new hampshire. And thank you for discussing what needs to be replaced. Im wanting to know the scope of the work so that I can make the decision myself.

For the FWD to Q swap you will need at least:
- Transmission
- TCU and ECU and related wiring if your car is an automatic
- prop shaft
- rear diff
- rear subframe and all related parts
- gas tank, pumps and mounts, probably fuel lines as well

Chances are there will be some mounts missing from your chassis. If you have an automatic I'd forget about this all together. If you have manual it's a little easier but still a TON of work and you basically need everything under the car from the transmission to the rear bumper.

Thought manuals were all quattro. But thank you looking at that I prob will just wait till I can afford the a5 or s5 lol
