Review of pressure washer AR383 Blue Clean

Ok, I finally bit the bullet and bought an electric pressure washer. I waited for that one guy to post his review of his he got at Harbor Freight and he never did. I went on Amazon and bought the #1 rated washer in my price range. I was originally looking to spend about $120 and was going to get a Karcher. They don't stock them at Home Dept. They have one for 99 bucks I believe.

I decided to spend a little more based on reviews. The AR383 is great. It is very quiet and I talked to the company. They are in MN and a small office of just 36 people and they pride themselves on great customer service. I bought a Foam Lance from Chemical Guys and it did not fit nor did they have fittings as the AR has special fittings. I returned it as AR sells one as an accessory on their website and it is $59.00 I believe, made in Italy and has brass fittings. It works AWESOME and you dont need a bunch of adapters.

In talking to the guys at AR, they told me Karchers unit is tested to 50hours of us. The AR is tested to 100 so it should last twice as long. I talked to detail guys and they told me the Karcher cheap unit is what they used when they started out and they would get 6 months of use washing cars all day long. So I figure the AR should last a while.

It is super quiet. On the reviews they talk about a plastic hose connection. I don't understand why people complain. It is actually metal. AR said that people put the adapter on backwards and it would leak and then write a review and they were in error. I find the quality and performance of the 383 to be great for the money. A TON TON TON of foam from their cannon you buy on their website.

It has a super long built in cord and I think a 30 ft hose. The sprayer is adjustable so you dont have to mess with different tips.

Thought you guys would like to know...

Hmm, thinking I should have asked you what you got a few weeks ago instead of impulsing on a Simpson electric washer from Costco. Works pretty good but tons of tips. Seems to lose pressure at times or it gets weak.

Let me know if you have any problems in the future. I believe I have 6 months to return :D.

My advice is to return it to Costco and get the AR Blue Clean from Amazon and then the foam cannon from their site (which will be on amazon soon as well). Get some melon foaming soap from Chemical Guys buy your house and you are good to go. You can wash you cars so fast and touchless. I also got a cheap leaf blower to dry and then I "dab" (to not drag or wipe) with a waffle weave microfiber.

Probably will do that. I honestly don't like the fluctuation in the pressure. I don't mind the noise but you kept saying yours was quiet. Might be nice as well :D.

Thanks for the info. I just bought the AR383 also and looking to see which foam lance to get. Was going to get the MTM Hydro but people indicate you need a special adapter to work with the pressure washer. I was hesitant to get AR's foam lance since there aren't any reviews of it on Amazon but I will pull the trigger after reading your review.

I would just get the AR foam cannon. Its made in Italy and I think the same place MTM get theirs as MTM's is made in Italy. How many Italian Foam cannon manufacturers do you think are in Italy??!

It is all very sturdy brass and heavy duty parts. It foams a TON on my car

I purchased the same washer and foam cannon on your recommendation.... it works great.

I did pick up some brass quick disconnect hose connectors as the plastic ones that come with the sprayer seemed a bit fragile.

Just an update 7 months later. Pressure washer is used every week and it is still going strong. Love it! Foam Cannon still works great as well.

Is there a difference between the AR Foam Lance and the AR Foam Cannon? I'm having trouble figuring out which one is which. Link to the products mentioned? Thanks in advance.

The other thing I love about this company is that they are super friendly and a small business. I would call them and ask

Funny this popped up. Mine died before a year, I need to send it in to get a warranty. I went ahead and bought a gas powered one, the one thing I like about the electric is that it is not constantly running.

Saw an upgraded version of my AR pressure washer at Costco. I believe it was about 157 bucks.

    thats great!
One thing about buying from Costco is their warranty.
They will replace it in case it breaks no questions asked with a new one

I know! Kinda of Jealous. This one at Costco though is 100 psi less than mine but I doubt it matters. Don't forget to get the foam cannon directly from AR (via amazon) as it will fit with special fitting adapters.

The trade off is if anything goes wrong, Costco will replace. But I wonder for how long.

The one at costco looked nicer than mine with more "metal" than mine.

Still going strong. Only issue is the hose kinked and if that area bends it kinks easily in that specific spot. Wish the hose was more flexible and better quality.

Thanks for the ongoing reviews (and for linking me to your thread from the other one I posted in).
If you get too close to the car with the nozzle, will it damage the paint? I know I've stripped deck stain, and even portions of the deck board surface, by holding the nozzle accidentally too close.

yes. If you get too close or have the jet to concentrated you will damage your paint. I would recommed a fairly wide fan pattern of at least 4 -6 inches and not get closer than 3 feet from the car with the nozzle
