Airbag Light... Reset Tool from China??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Anyone have any positive results using $40 Ebay airbag controller/dashboard light Reset tool?
    My airbag light is ON.
Dreaded Error Code # 65535 (Internal Control Module Memory Error).....can't be reset using Vag-Com.
Have read many threads about possible fixes including replace module with new/used, or send out module to a company that will repair/reflash....of course looking for the easiest fix first!
    Thanks!.....Bob from NJ

I ended up buying a used module $80 from an Audizine member who read and responded to my question.
He had parted out a wrecked S4
It was a pretty simple install...only needed the "key-shaped" tool to remove the radio.
    Haven't had a problem since!
    Good Luck!

I have one of these. It works to turn off the fault code light. No telling if there is something actually wrong with the controller (of course there is), or if it is fully functioning after the reset. That concerns me.

Also, the light comes back on any time the temperature drops below 34F or there about. I keep the tool in the glove box and have to reset often in the winter. Once the weather warms up the light stays off. So just don't get in an accident in the winter:)

The instructions are classic "poor translation" stuff. My unit has the red and yellow buttons reversed, but labeled as the unit in the link above.

Replacing the controller and to be done with the issue is on "the list"...

Yeah i suspect my issue is due to it being an exceptionally cold winter, and the car being on a trickle charger all winter long. I had no issues with this the previous year but we had record breaking cold... -15F (-30C) for long stretches..

The module is otherwise accessible and you can browse all the measuring blocks ok (with vagcom) But good to know it works on our cars. I have a feeling the module will have to be replaced at some point but 50 bucks is worth the gamble i suppose

Shop around...there are several on E-Bay under $25. They are all pretty much the same device.

Get Xtool VAG401 tool for ~$55 on ebay, it has full functionality of VAg-COM/VCDS (for real) in stand alone unit. done. It can do your airbags and everything else factory dealer tools can. Everything.

Julex, I suspect that tool might not have worked for these types of codes. There are liability and safety rules preventing mechanics from "fixing" airbag controllers. Seems to be why VAG-COM will not reset this code and potentially other scantools that wish to be compliant.

Just an educated guess though, I'm no expert on the matter.

Got my Chinese tool from Amazon yesterday, and it worked perfectly. Code has not come back.

Turns out a friend of mine in the city with the same car also popped the code over the winter, so that extended cold snap we had might have been the culprit.

I was wondering what the cold does to make this code pop? I bought a used module last fall from someone on here but I had put the car away at my buddys place for the winter so the new module sat on a shelf in the garage all winter, I pulled the radio and spent an hour fucking it the thing to get the new module in only to be greeted by the airbag light and the same code. Is there anything else I should check or should I suck it up and get another module.

I've got two lights popped out at the same time, airbag and parking brake fault. VAG-COM reads that the rear brake module is bad and battery igniter is bad too. Anyone knows where is that module located and that battery igniter? Will this Xtool VAG401 reset the airbag and it won't come back ? 2010 S5
