Exclamation A4 B6 shifts into gears, but won't move or drive at all....

Hello all. I have a 2002 Audi a4 b6 quattro that I have left out of commision over this winter. A few weeks ago, when it got warmer, I started the car and attempted to drive it. The car starts fine and everything, engine running fine and sounds fine. But when I shift it into drive move, the car doesn't move at all. It almost seems as if the drive shaft is no longer connected. :(

I later ended up backing up the car with the reverse gear (which felt very weak) into my backyard and just letting it sit there. Please help as I dont know where to start at all.... . Thanks in advance for the help

Are the brakes frozen? Sitting that long could do that. Check that the trans is full of fluid too.

Its definitely not the brakes ceasing up or frozen. Because I backed up the car for about 200ft to park it. But i will have to check on the transmission fluid and report back. thanks.

Were assuming this is an automatic transmission or manual gearbox?

Add Trans Fluid ASAP before trying to start it up and move it again. The next thing you need to do is locate the leak that caused this problem in the first place. I believe you have an 01V Transmission so here is a write up on how to change the fluid. Please confirm if that is what you have.

I'm getting ready to order the transmission fluid kit from BlauParts (http://www.blauparts.com/proddetail.asp?prod=F2A1007-A). But seriously, is it the cause to my car not moving at all!? Is there a way I can check the transmission fluid level before I order the kit for nothing? If yes, how do I check for fluid level?
