My car has what looks like sugar granuals behind the instrument glass, in front of the instruments, is there an easy way I can take the glass off to vacuum this crap out, as it's really bugging me

Yes you can. Remove the two gauge cluster bolts, pull it out, and IIRC its just a series of clips that hold the clear lens onto the actual cluster

I had to take my steering wheel off because the cluster is too thick even when I tilt the wheel all the way down.

Did you telescope it out as far as it would go too? That's odd.

Just disengage the lever you use to tilt the steering wheel and pull the wheel toward you.

Interesting. I'll test it tomorrow because I have to pull my cluster out to replace the speaker. Thanks.

I've removed my cluster like 10 times, it can easily be done with the steering wheel in place. I've never once had to remove the SW to get the cluster out. Just dip the steering wheel down and out as far as possible.

Ok I got mine out again. I was not aware that the steering wheel came towards the seat. Thanks.

where did you source the speaker? A friend of a friend with a B7 came to me asking for advice, I told her she can ship her cluster to an online repair company for the $99 repair service or just live without warning chimes for free haha
