Need advice on removing tire dressing buildup from wheels

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
What's a good product that I can use to remove the gunk/residue buildup of tire dressing that accumulates on the wheel, and at the same time, won't damage or remove any protective finish? It's a greasy buildup that I end up just kind of pushing around with the towel. Car washing soap and elbow grease doesn't cut it. The dressing is something called Black Magic Tire Wet gel. I have a 2014 S4 with Black Optic so I have the five spoke titanium wheels.

    Thank you.

I use Adam's All Purpose Cleaner for my tires, but any APC will work just as well (Wolf's Chemicals, P21S, Chemical Guys, etc.). Spray it on, agitate it with a stiff bristled tire brush and rinse.

And try a different tire dressing, and apply with a sponge rather than spray, sponge solves your problem

Thank you for the responses. I actually do use a small applicator sponge/pad that came with the product so the residue isn't like slung onto the wheels in globs. Question about the APC.....is something like Formula 409 an APC or is it something specific for wheels that I have to get at get at Autozone or online?

You need a specific automotive APC. Adam's, Meguiar's, etc.

Simple green. Tuf shine tire cleaner would be your best bet though.

bleche wite, tire cleaner, gets everything off

keep a hose handy to rinse everything off and keep it off the wheels and paint. if it does get on the wheels or paint no big deal if you rinse it off right away.

Love bleach white , that brings the tires back to new . Let them dry real good and see if you need to do a 2nd application then a nice coating of tire shine . Have been using auto finesse satin tire shine . Makes them look new and not very shiny

bleche white is good, but whatever you end up using, the most important product is grease. elbow grease and your product of choice and a brush. turns brown tires black again. then quit letting people put $hit on your tires, use something decent like Adams SVRT (waterproof and doesn't sling)

Trying to remove the stuff that splatters and builds up on the wheels. Is there something to just spray on, let sit and rinse off?
