Suggestions on an Audi Mechanic in the Guelph area

Hi all,

I'm looking to get some simple brake work done on my RS6 but will eventually need to find someone who can also do a timing belt change in a few months.

I live in Burlington but work in Guelph.

I'm thinking of checking out this place....EMT tuning as they are close to my office.

You could try and contact Mike at German Autotech... he's not quite in Guelph but west of you in Waterloo. My only interaction with him was talking to him for quite a while over the phone when he was interested in my A4 that I was selling.

Might be a little too far from Guelph for you though.

Additional web surfing has also revealed that www.foreignautomotive.ca in kitchener seem to have excellent feedback. EMT tuning not so much.

There might also be www.autobahnlogic.com in burlington but I don't see any web links to feedback on these guys...

I just cut and pasted this from posting in Cottonmouths thread. I have used Paul now and he is great, super happy to have an indy shop in Burlington so I want to keep him in business..

This guy is local to you, very fair pricing.. Audi factory trained tech Paul is the owner and will be the guy working on your car.

I'm mixed on EMT. I had a few things done by them and was happy, especially with thier open door policy into teh shop. But then went there for a stage 1 tune. They were a bit disorganized and ended up rushing the re-install. Shortly after I was getting water into my cabin. Doing some troubleshooting I found that the cover to the housing for the ECU was not on properly and was allowing water to leak in by the ECU and all the other fuses/wiring that was in there! I fixed it up and is gone now. However, I cooincedentally around the same time I start to recieve a fault with my rear drivers side door keyless entry that I haven't sorted out and still can't use my convienience key to unlock or lock the car anymore. When I told them about it I got no response. No offer to help troubleshoot the issue. So, it's on my spring project list...

Long story short: They are hit and miss. Me personally, not going back.

Coolant flange on wife's 07 A4 2.0t .. while there I chatted to him about a lot of audi issues and his take on them.. bottom line he knows his stuff:) I am going to use him for all the stuff I either don't want to do myself or stuff I can't do due to time/tools/ability.

How old is this information? I see a Paul's Auto Service in Hamilton on Wentworth St. http://www.paulsautoinc.com

Same place? Was he still in Burlington when you went to see him?

Info is current. Different places, I did think calling it Pauls was a flaw as it a pretty common name for a shop.

Dont use EMT! Work is shoddy, guys a D bag, and he will screw you in one way or another.....Ive never personally used him but I've had to deal with him because of friends that have and each one of them got F%#Ked. On more then on occasion he has said I will do this, does something similar and charges a huge premium. So you walk in expecting to pay XXX and it turns out to be double or more. That was my last buddy who ended up leaving his MK2 there because it wasn't even worth it at that point. He wanted more for the repair then quoted / the car was even worth.

Jason at Foreign Auto is your best bet for the area IMO. He's a Honest guy and very particular on how he does his work. Work is always amazing and he stands behind what he does.
