    Question SQ5 Owners Ages

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So after talking to a few people and doing research on the internet of those who own SQ5s or are interested in them, I'm finding that the vehicle is more attractive to a "middle-aged male." Quite a few of my coworkers who are interested in getting one just happen to be in the 35-45 age range. Myself, I'm 29 years old and I'm just wondering what the actual numbers are. So for those of you who actually OWN or who have ORDERED one, mind telling/listing your ages here? (Lets not be women about this, I'm genuinely interested in the age group this vehicle appeals to most)

I'm 26 but my fiancée is 24 and it is her vehicle. Definitely love it so far, she keeps complaining to me to get the black optics grille for it, ours is white. I got her into the black everything on white car look haha.

33 and my SQ5 is me accepting I need to do other things for fun than just drive stupid fast. My recent past cars were a highly modded WRX and modded E90 M3 and I've done the track thing for a few years, but decided to adjust my priorities to get me outside and into the mountains more while still having a sporty SUV. The SQ5 fits that role pretty well.

Fit your SQ5 demographic to a tee, 38. Pull the boat, bikes on the roof, dogs in the cargo, kids in the back. 0-100 in 5s, that's me time.

I suppose I'm over the SQ5 demographic. I'm 48. My wife will be the primary driver of the SQ5. She's 47.

    28. Surprised so many under 30 actually. Do consider that in the UK it's A LOT more expensive tho. Most owners here that I know are in 40s or 50s.

I'm surprised as well. The 35-45 range seems to fit nice with numbers as guys are more likely to be financially more secure I'm assuming during those years. Not to mention they're possibly in need of an SUV in accordance with their families. But its cool to see such a diverse range of people driving it. good to know I dont own grandpa's car

I am sure the 35-45 is accurate. This survey was taken on this forum, rather than through overall age of ownership.

While not an SQ5 owner I'd say these ages are pretty representative. I'm sure an online forum like AZ attracts a younger demographic overall, which might skew the ages down just a bit.

I was thinking the same thing as I'm definitely not your average 28 year old...

I joined a startup company aged 19, and we now have multi million pound turn over - so I lucked out in joining a successful startup when there were only 4 employees and I managed to stayed at the top of the pile as the company grew - not that it hasn't been 9 years of seriously hard work!!

But if I look at my friends/peers, so most when to University, 2 or 3 are now Dentists/Lawyers and so only now starting to catch up with my salary, but most are government employees, teachers, bus drivers, your usual job etc and could never dream of owning a beast like an SQ5 (unless they planned to live in it!).
But... as I said earlier, an SQ5 with equivalent spec to US Prestige is $90k here in the UK at the current exchange rate!!!! So there is a big difference in cost and so definitely pushes the average age of the UK buyer up compared to the US. But none the less, I can't imagine too many Americans can afford a $60k car?

I think the point about forums being a young demographic is very true though - so likely a lot of SQ5 owners out there are 30s/40s/50s but just not on here! The car is clearly aimed squarely at the 2.4 children family whereby Dad likes to use his right foot, but Mum can happy drive the kids to school in it during the week! It's also worth noting that the UK advertising is aimed VERY heavily at couples - on another UK heavy Q5 forum about 70% of the SQ5's are bought by the husband for the wife (with varying degrees of input from her!)...

Have Audi advertised the SQ5 in the US much? And if so how? Is the demographic they are aiming at younger?

mharper - what's your story! 24 is definitely way young to be owning a car like this! I didn't buy crazy cars til I was 25 and had a house sorted first!

josedebardi- Similar to yourself I've been very successful and fortunate, financially/career-wise, at a younger age. I got my MBA right away and went straight into software consulting in addition to renting out a few properties I own on the side, the rest is history! Bought my first Audi, an S5, at 21. I'm right there with you though, especially in our 20's, friends/peers aren't purchasing $65k+ cars quite yet, or at least comfortably so.

First Audi was at 25 with the S3 then had another S3 before the SQ5.

I bought the car to build something that shouldn't be possible. An SUV that is lower than most hatch/saloon's.

Don't know if I fell good or stupid, 66 years old. Should be here in a week or two. Panther black, comfort package, loaded. Wife's car, wanted something smaller after 3 land cruisers. Do I win the prize or am I just getting old?

38....first car I have had in 10 years that had more than two doors, or more than 2 seats for that matter.

Our first child is due this August so the SQ was still pretty quick around town and could carry everyone.

Hell, I'm 60 and thinking of trading my S4 for an SQ5. My 66 year old wife thinks I'm crazy -- does that count? I think it's finally time to quit tracking expensive cars at DE's but I might buy an S6 instead... Good or stupid, who knows?
