    2014 A5 - Gas mileage on a 2.0T Quattro with a 6 spd manual?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey guys,

I have a 2014 A5 bone stock with 4k miles and was wondering if anyone is getting the EPA ratings of 22/32 city/highway?

I'm only getting around 20mpg almost all city driving which is close to the EPA rating, but the highway mileage is off. I'm only getting 27-28mpg cruising 72-75 mph with the cruise control set that I did over the weekend. Granted I had a passenger who weighs 250 pounds and 75 pounds worth of stuff in the trunk of the car. Wondering what gas mileage you guys are getting on the highway.

I based the mileage by calculating 12.5 gallons used to travel 345 miles which is 27.6 mpg.

    Thanks

u think u bought a prius? lol. 27-28 mpg is already pretty good. u shouldnt compare ur mpg vs epa estimates anyways.

and on board comps are never accurate.

hmm....all my other cars met the EPA ratings they stated or within a mile of it, not 5 miles per gallon.

    What mileage are you getting?

i never follow it. except that it gives me an idea if its a gas guzzler or not.

too much factors to consider. i live in the city, which is mostly stop and go. somedays its horrible, some better. i learned to stop worrying and just enjoy the car.

but if u really think something is wrong, change ur filters. try another gas brand. might help.

I've never calculated a tank in my life. I buy what I like, and never really consider it. If another model did get a few mpg better, that would not weigh in one bit. I'm also not one that worries over gas prices, and damn sure do not waste my time looking for stations with better pricing. That being said, its all situational. I can certainly understand the concern, and that many do care about the efficiency. Glad to help

the max I would get is around 30 highway.

I actually got much better gas mileage in my c230 sport. Could get 36 MPG's at around 42 miles an hour, going steady

    I've a 2010 A5... six-speed, not stock.

My mileage varies depending upon the fuel map I choose... if running 100 octane fuel/map, I get mileage similar to your report... but with 91 octane fuel/map, I regularly get over 35 MPG on the highway (70+ MPH).

My record mileage on the highway was 41+MPG while driving back from Tahoe... but I'd attribute that to both the slightly favorable slope in places as well as the colder temperatures.

At Targa I got about 22MPG (shifting at 5k rpm probably)

To Vegas I got about 28 MPG

I drive highways about 90% of the time and shift at around 3k rpm and I get 25 MPG overall. I document all my cars on fuelly.com

My Mercedes C350 Coupe (Also about 80% Highway) for Reference

My Honda Cr-Z (Also about 80% Highway) for Reference. I've tracked 24K miles on this car accurately too.

With most of my cars, if I drive 75% highway or more, I get +3MPG on top of the City Mileage

When my commutes = 50/50, I got exactly the EPA City Mileage.

The Audi's seem to be incapable of achieving the est. EPA hwy mileage posted on the sticker. My S5 is the first car I've ever owned where I didn't exceed - usually with the first tankful - the posted hwy figures by at least 2 mpg. This seemed to be true as far back as 1998 when I first started looking at the A4's, and couldn't find one owner who achieved the posted mpg on either of the engines offered ... so I ended up buying an M3 instead.

If you get at least 300, you're fine.

The Audi A5 2.0T Quattro is notoriously bad for fuel consumption, well at least here in South Africa. I had a 2010 model prior to trading it in on a S5, and the fuel consumption on average was not much less than my V8 S5. The main thing is the Quattro and the weight of the car, it all adds to the bad fuel consumption for a 2.0L TFSI.

    I average mid-to-high 20's... but with cruise at the speed limit +/- 5 I've legitimately hit 40.

With the 8 spd I was able to get 30+ pretty consistently on the highway with the stock tune. Even at 100 mph it sits at only like 2500 rpms. Ever since the tune though my foot just wants to lay into it whenever possible, so it's gone down tremendously since then. Don't even look any more haha

I think that day on the way home (all highway except for maybe 3-5 miles) I was on cruise at 65-70, then about 1/4 of the time was 55-60; all in 6th gear. Today on the drive home (spirited, 75-85mph ) I landed on 28-29 though.

Just drive fast and go up to 100mph. Put it neutral and let the MPG begin. I also put it in neutral when going downhill.

^^ if you put it in neutral it will use fuel to idle the engine, keeping it in gear with engine pulled by the car, the fuel is shut off.
