Best quality aftermarket grills for B8.5 S4's.....

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I am looking for recommendations for the best quality honeycomb/mesh grill for my B8.5 S4. It doesn't have to be a $700 or 800.00 grill, just a grill that you have had experience with that was well made and good quality. I am looking for a black honeycomb/mesh with a silver outer ring (not chrome)(I want it to match the silver on my mirrors and the two silver strips next to my fog lights.). I am even thinking about not putting the Audi rings and the S4 emblems back on the front grill.

Also, if anyone has had their aftermarket grills installed at the Audi Dealer, could you please let me know what kind of install price they were charging? I know it is a DIY project, but I have had 7 back surgeries, so most of my car building days are over....except the smaller stuff!!!

Thanks so much for your help!

the issue with having someone install your grill is the crash bar behind the oem grill is silver and needs to be painted or plasti-dipped prior to installing the mesh grill. otherwise you will have a bright silver bar running through the middle of the grill

most dealers wont paint it during install. if you have a helping hand, the swap can be made in about 2 hours including the paint work.

oh and they are all the same grill, all are made in china

Thanks Jlaudio! I was TOLD.....that some of the grills are made of heavier construction and won't chip as easy (more like the factory design.) is this not true and I should just look for the best deal and pull the trigger?

those heavier grills are the OEM, which can run 600+. you can buy 3 china grills for the same price as the oem. i don't think too many people have run into chipping issues, and if you do after a few years you can just buy a new one do a quick swap and still be cheaper than the oem grill.

google jcsportline, that's the main manufacturer and where all the grills come from

Most all of the trim stuff is just plastic junk. I took off my instrument cluster "gloss black surround" and it was cheapo plastic...the fancy aspect is actually the complicated tabs and how they snap to remove rattle/travel, pretty impressive actually. The only thing that is blatantly crap on these grilles is the ring mount. The way it secures is terrible and the snaps don't work with the OEM rings. But whatever, it's a plastic grille for $200. Would be pretty dumb to spend 3x the amount so that the mount snapped "better", just break your ring tabs and pocket the $400 (by that I mean waste it on something else for the car ).

I have an OEM BO grill and was going to sell it after getting the $200 RS4 style grill. After installing the RS4 grill, I've decided to just keep my BO grill. The aftermarket grill feels flimsy so if/when it starts falling apart, I'll just throw my OEM back on and be done with it. Don't expect much with the grill.

It took me 2hrs the first time to remove my bumper and install the new grill. Most of the time was spent trying to pry the "hidden" tabs that snap things into place. Also, don't forget to paint the crash bar or install that plastic film that comes with the grill or else it'll look like this:

Make sure you look at the black S4's with the honey comb grill. They don't look very good IMO. Red and white look very good though.

LouieLLP is a great seller, bought my RS6 grille from him for my S6, high quality and it actually matches OEM.

I bought mine from Smart-motoring on e-bay and it is an exact replica of the OEM RS4 grill!! Even the guys at Modbargins couldn't believe how solid and well built it was!! I pulled on a mesh grill on a RS5 and mine has much less flex and feels much more solid!! And the Audi rings are built in just like the OEM grill! They even have the smaller mesh in the ring mount!! I got the gloss black mesh with the silver surround that matches the trim and mirrors on my car....it is a perfect match! The only thing you will need is the larger Audi rings (285mm x 100mm). This is BY FAR the best non-OEM RS4 grill I have seen!! And by the way, Modbargins always Plasti-dips the cross/crash bar when they do these installs!!

The only thing stopping me buying this one is that the ring holder is silver and not black like yours.

What are my options? I dont see your exact setup on ebay
