Wow, didn't know you guys offered a 2.0 coil conversion kit. I think that your "plate" design looks a helluva lot better than the individual coil spacers that others sell. Next oil change is when I plan to do a full standard tune-up with coils/plugs etc. Will 100% be buying one of these kits soon

Stage 1 is just the basics; plate and coil packs. Stage 2 includes our coil pack hold down brackets which can be mounted to our plate as well.

    Hi,

What gap do you recommend for the BKR7EKT plugs w/ the 2.0 coil package?
    thanks.

You should use the manufacture recommended gap for 2.0T vehicles which is 0.28. This is also what is recommended when you go a step colder plug such as the BKR7

The BKR7E-11 plugs come pre-gapped properly for the 2.0 coils. Use BKR7EIX-11 if you want to go with a set of Iridium plugs and last much longer.

This is not accurate. The point of running the 'hotter' 2.0 coils is to allow for a larger spark plug gap. On the stock 1.8T coils, the recommended gap when chipped is .028" With the 2.0t coils the gap is opened up to .044".

    1.1mm gap = .044" pregapped. Hence the '-11' on the BKR7EIX-11.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on this. .044 is way too wide for boosted vehicle, with a gap that large you risk blowing out the spark. Granted opening up the gap will allow for a "hotter" spark but you also have a great chance of blowing it out. If it were me personally I would run somewhere between .028 and .032. And it really all depends on your mods as spark plug gap is a highly debatable topic.

This specific topic has been beaten to death in post #2 i linked...a good read jason, im going to agree with Texas based off of the information provided in this forum supporting the .44 (or higher) plug gap.

I am using the 1.1mm gap plugs with TSI coils and have no complaints.

I skimmed that thread and would agree it's been beaten to death. Bottom line is that you will not hurt anything by running a slightly smaller gap. It really comes down to personal preference. I happen to know a few guys in the industry who are pro EFI tuners and with boosted cars spark plug gap to them is only relevant to how much boost a vehicle is making. I will guarantee you that if you push mid to upper 20's or higher in boost you would start to have issues with the spark getting blown out at that high of gap. It's also highly dependent on the tune. Ask anyone who is making over 400whp what spark plug gap they are at. Chances are it's less than .044.

In conclusion run the gap your tuner suggests with your supporting mods.

Any more feedback on the ECS 2.0 coilpack conversion now that it's been out a little while? Sure someone has to have been running it.

I need to refresh my coils and spark plugs and considering this option. Would also be interested to know if the stock engine cover still fits on with this setup.

9veral the 2.0 conversion is a better upgrade for the 1.8 then the usual stock coils. I see there many pro and light cons and some gapping to do. Just debating on doing the upgrades or not.

When I bought these for my GTI a while ago, I went with the FSI coils because the entire kit was cheaper than buying a single stock coil from my local Stealership. Either way I noticed a great improvement then, and a similar improvement when I transferred them over to my B6.
