CD-RW not recognizing a cd is there?

This is the first time I've attempted to burn a CD on my new comp... and it says theres no cd there.

Indeed I tried multiple CDs.

I have been using the same stack for a while, but I burned them on my laptop. Now, my new comp doesn't like them?

Oh and when I put a blank CD in, it doesn't give me the "What do you want to do with this CD" message.

Then when I trick to click and drag to the E Drive, it either says "Please insert a CD" or "E Drive not accessable"

I'd try using one of those higly-compressed air sprays.

What brand is the burner?
Is it a combo drive (CD-RW/DVD+-RW) or just a CD-RW?
Will it read regular CDs?
Will it read another brand of blank CDRs?
Are you trying to burn a CD-R or CD-RW?
What software do have (Nero, Roxio etc)?

sounds like your drive isn't even connected. Did you try putting a retail disk in there to see if it reads that?

Dirty, answer my questions already! His drive should be connected because Windows is picking it up. He can drag files to E:\ so it's there.
