    Hook Up Aux Cable?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have an 09 A4 and saw some kind of connection slot in the glove box. I personally do not have an iPhone and do not like apple products.

Is there a way I can hook up an auxiliary cable for my note 3? Or can Bluetooth do that too? I have the Bluetooth hands-free as well.

    Thanks.

You can buy the Aux jack that hooks up to the AMI connection in the glove box. you can buy it from your local Audi Dealer the part number is 4F0 051 510 T

I'd be interested in finding a bluetooth solution as well. I currently have an 80GB ipod Classic hooked up that I leave in the car. I only remove it when I want to update music or podcasts, however, having a bluetooth or Aux cable in conjunction with the ipod adapter would be very convenient. Does anyone know whether the simultaneous connections are possible???

I believe people are using tune2air for Bluetooth capability.

I really appreciate it, but that cable is really short. Would be a pain to switch songs reaching the glovebox.

You could get the apple 30-pin AMI adapter and plug a 30-pin to Bluetooth dongle into it (i.e. Coolstream)

Edit: This doesn't work with AMI according to Amazon reviews.

Problem is that, if your car is 09-11 you may not have compatible hardware or software to utilize 32GB sd, like me for instance, i have an 09 with the older software and hardware and can only use a regular sd card, not a 32gb SD-HC card

I stand corrected! I don't think I have AMI so I plugged the coolstream into a 30-pin to 12v/3.5mm jack in the center console and it works perfectly.

My car is an 09 and I am guessing its the older interface and I did not even know the car had an SD slot. So I am guessing the 32GB isnt going to work. I honestly want to just plug my phone in instead of taking the memory slot and going in to update it and then go back out then update my phone for my gym music as well.

I was annoyed by having to place my iphone in the glove box to stream pandora, audible, etc. I picked up this cable from amazon, cheap, and I can verify that it works great:

I would love to use that cable and all but my issue is I dont use any apple products, I just do not like them. What frustrates me more is that everything is for iphone, they take no consideration that the android market is a huge market as well.

That being said any other ideas of getting this to work, bluetooth would be nice. Think that AMI to Aux with a Aux extender would work.

This isn't too hard. Get the Audi 3.5mm aux cable or I bought mine on ebay for $10 or so. And then get 3-6 ft. length of cable with 3.5mm male and female connections.

This is not perfect, but it works. I used a ~6ft cable and routed it through the console to the cup holder area and the phone sits in the cupholder.

I've been looking for a good bluetooth solution and haven't found one.

Don't you guys have a aux slot inside the center arm rest as well?
I have an aux cable running from there (as well as charger cable) that sits near the cup holder area and use it when I need to.

That's a good question. I don't think 2010+ models come with teh Aux cable in the center console. What model year car do you have PK?

I'm gonna have to go have a second look because I have a Premium Plus model without Nav and the only hookup I've seen in the center console is the 12v aux input that I use for charging my phone. I also have the SD card slot, but that's on the radio/AC control board. (<---Not sure if that's what it's called).

If I could find the 3.5 aux input, that would be so useful!

PK, do you also have the ipod connection in the glove box?

I am 99% sure you have that 3.5 aux in the center console as well, it's very near the 12v aux, almost next to each other.
It's pretty useful and I frankly not care about bluetooth anymore because of it (I still use BT for calling/receiving tho).

if you have an AMI you WILL NOT have the 3.5mm in the center console. If you want a longer cable that connects to the ami you could get this cable. I am looking at getting this so that i can have my phone in the mount and hooked up to the radio. If you have a MMI 3g there is a setting that you can change so that you can use any 30 pin bluetooth dongle for a2dp BUT you will not have control through the MMI. I will look up the link on how to do that.

Unfortunately, I do not have a 3.5 aux input. Sucks! This is what my center console looks like. Does anyone know what the little cover to the right is? I tried opening it to hopefully reveal a 3.5 aux input, but to no avail.

Any trim without the AMI but most likely the Premiums only as i believe in the US P+ all came standard with AMI. DavidB8 was doing some work to have that and the AMI but i dont think it worked properly, but that is something i would love myself as well. And yes that cover if you dont have AMI will be the input.

So you don't have an AMI? What do you have instead? Does your Premium model come with some type of screen at all?

I'm beginning to understand, but it still doesn't make sense why they would remove that option of having a 3.5 aux input. My girlfriend has a 2008 Infiniti G35 Journey edition with Navigation and it has the ipod/iphone hookup, RCA jacks and a 3.5mm aux input. To say the least, my 2010's technology pales in comparison with the 2008 G35. Oh, I forgot to add, her G35 comes stock with 311hp. My car may be built better and may look better, but hers surpasses mine in many other categories including price.

I assume its about making extra money. Just like why isnt it equipped with bluetooth streaming by default. AUX/BT should be standard in all cars.

I have a screen but no navigation or bluetooth. The Concert radio has SD card, single CD, AM/FM/XM and the AUX in from the 3.5mm jack in the center console. It also shows the car options & A/C controls on the screen. If I have AMI, where would the connector be, passenger side of the glove box? I will take a look after work but I was under the impression that you either had AMI, or the AUX in jack...

the difference between AMI and no AMI is a connection in the back of the radio either to the glove box for the AMI or to the center console for the 3.5mm. the reason you cant have both is because there is only one port on the back so one or the other(i know id rather have both also!)

Same here no 3.5 aux input either on mine.

booost and mine are the same.
It comes down to MMI vs Concert.
Matter of fact, I don't think I have that port in the glove box.
    Do you booost?

I have the ipod/iphone 30pin connector and bluetooth, but I agree, Aux/BT should be standard in all cars.

I have AMI and the 30 pin connector for ipods/iphones is in the glovebox. I'll take a pic and post later today unless someone beats me to it.

I wonder if it can somehow be retrofitted. It was mentioned that DavidB8 tried, but had no solution. Looks like we're stuck.

This has become more complicated then I thought, Damn audi with all their supposed technology just couldnt add another damn connection on the back for the ipod and aux....selfish bastards. I think we should experiment and maybe everyone chip in a few dollars for someone who is good at making home brew items to make us a solution.

Bluetooth streaming is nice, but it's not a deal breaker for me when you have aux and also that perfectly functional SD card slot.

Same thing with Nav - it's nice, but Google Maps on my phone for the win.

No Bluetooth streaming or Aux but I have the iPod 30pin connection. I also bought the cable to USB and I can put in a USB stick.
