They said supposedly they have to hook it up and there's no media in the form if DVDs or SD cards these days.

Mine's a UK spec pre-facelift car. Originally I had the dealer do the updates, but recently I've done them myself using the SD card, and just not told the dealer.
I've updated mine from

Well, my comment was about my 2016. I don't know if they changed anything between earlier models and this one, I haven't listened to an older car and this one side-by-side, but it sounds fine as long as you aren't expecting window-rattling bass.

As he said. EU and US cars run different firmwares. The versions are quite close, and there is usually a firmware with a similar number that gives the same changes, but a US car cannot be loaded with an EU firmware.

I downloaded them from an unscrupulous website using torrents... and then loaded them onto the car with an SD card.
Have a look around and see if you can find the US firmware files anywhere online.

This is sad. My Ford Expedition over 14yrs ago had better sound than my 13 S7's Bose. Now only if MB Quarts (reference series circa 1998) are still made like they used to.....

I'm pretty sure my wife's Veloster stereo can go head to head. There's no way the Bose in the A7 will keep up with the base. We'll probably both be on even playing fields once she trades it in though haha.

I don't think we'll find the firmware on the most popular torrent site I know.

it totally isn't. You can right click on the song in iTunes and in options EQ the song to your liking. Even set the gain too.

I don't think it can be done like that. I did some quick searching (thread about wifi tethering) and came up with the CD rom for the 0715 update.

You have to wonder if some of the dealers didn't hook up the vehicle to a reliable power source. Seems like a lot of failures being discussed (or I heard from someone that someone had such and such issue).

i brought my car in for the fuel leak recal land also made somehting up such as my MMI has glitch and freezes on random screen and ask them to check if there is a updated software they can install which they did it.
They also upgrade my tranny software also, not sure what that does, will pick it up my car shortly.

You can find the cd at ecs tuning. Just copy the part number from the image that chris posted and google it. It shows up at the ecs tuning store.

So the dealership never updated anything for you. That sucks bad. I would find a new dealership. My MMI is at 715 version as well. Not sure if any new versions have come out.

I was out of warranty. 715_2 is the latest in circulation right now. I've heard that they might have a newer version in the pipeline. IIRC one was pulled at one point. There are so many threads on this though.

What improvements have you noticed?
Also, not to change topics, but have more people gotten then tranny update the dealerships are pushing? I declined it on the last visit since my tranny works flawlessly and had heard about people having issues after the update.

1) The MMI boots up and responds much faster. I was very impressed.
2) The sound is noticeably different in a great way. I was not expecting it, as it caught me off guard. The tone and bass is drastically crisper. Even the Bluetooth streamed music was above average.

I had the transmission update completed a few weeks ago and I do admit it the shifts felt a little sluggish, so they re-updated it during this visit and now its much smoother shift points. I wonder if the ones having trouble have ECM/TCM tunes...

AoA sent me a letter (and supposedly T-Mobile sends one too) in the mail about the T-Mobile Network upgrade where afterwards my data speeds will drop from 3G to 2G. As far as I know, the upgrade is tiered across the US and to last through the end of the year. The letter gives you instructions to schedule with the dealer to have a hardware and software update completed free of charge. The service is linked to the VIN of your car, so I'm not sure there is anything you can do until the campaign reaches you.

I'm not certain if audi has changed something in the speakers or what but I find the bose system very enjoyable in my 2015 rs7 mmi version 814. Does the RS have more speakers than the A7 or s7? Or have they changed something in the bose hardware without letting people know?

I say this because I would normally consider myself a bit of a speaker snob, not an expert by any means, but definitely discerning when it comes to sound. To me it sounds great. Definitely better than the best system available in the Masserrati, and close to my BMW premium system, although a little less base and it doesn't get as loud as the BMW system.

I also heard the b&o in a 2016 s7 prior to purchasing my rs7. B&O has wonderful clear highs but a terrible low end. If you think the Bose is lacking in base you'd be appalled by the base in the extra $5000 B&O system. It has zero low end.

The lows are much more heard and felt and the power much more noticeable. Its as if they adjusted a gain up control on an aftermarket amp. It is a world of difference to the point that I am happy with the system now. Ofcourse a B&O is better but to save the 4-5K I am fine with the Bose now as it is a decent factory stereo now.

I've heard on other boards that applying the latest 7+ update to your MMI will greatly improve the Bose audio system in the car.

My Bose system sounds like shit, like its very underpowered and also centric to the back. I have checked\tested every possible audio setting to no avail, pretty disappointed as my old A4's Bose system was awesome.

Anyone heard or done this?

For A6 C7 2016 , Bose - I didn't have subwoofer control.
But after someone updated the maps to 2020 (that probably means the MMI version as well) ,now I do have controls for subwoofer.How is that possible? Is it normal? Or it might be possible to have now a wrong version dedicated actually for Audi Sound System ?

I've updated maps to 2019/2020 version available on myaudi and my MMI firmware was not updated in the process.
Not sure if an update via dealer would update MMI firmware as well.

If anyone knows how to update MMI firmware it'd be great to hear how.

Oh man am I jealous. That would be a huge help with the Bose. He has a 2016, so not sure if our MMI update would be the same since his is an MIB I believe. There has to be a way somehow...

Yeah I have the same appear after I had the Apple play mod applied to my A6 C7. The guy doing the update even said that subwoofer control would be a new feature that will appear after the update. I guess it is as a result of the MMI firmware upgrade. The MMI firmware was MHI2_ER_AU57x_P2519, but is now running MHI2_ER_AU57x_K3663.
