Low oil light on after oil change

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!

Just got my oil changed today (Mobil 1 5w/30) and this light came on. Brought it right back to the shop and had them check oil level, cap, filter, plug...all are good. What could it be?

Never had this problem. Faulty oil pressure sensor perhaps

Btw, Mobil1 yes but why 5W30? and did the shop fill the OFHAF with oil first before reinstall?

X2, 5w40. I have seen a few instances on 30 weight oil throwing the oil pressure light.

    Links?

I used Mobil 1 0w30 my last change and no such lights. Don't think it has to do with the oil. Sensor on the oil pan was unplugged and they didn't plug it back in maybe? (not sure why they would do that but a possibility) I'd check there. If it's plugged in unplug it and plug it back in and see if that fixes it.

I only say this in regards to a BMW forum that was discussing the slight pressure difference between 30 and 40 weight oil, especially when the oil is hot.

I have no experience, as I have only run Amsoil 5w40

Low oil light on after oil change

I unplugged the oil pan sensor and plugged it back in...nada. I'm bringing it in to Audi tomorrow to look at it. It's running fine and no leaks on the cardboard I put under the car when I got home after. Hopefully it's just a sensor.

5w30 is what they have always used and I've never had an issue with almost 140k on her.

That is an oil level light not oil pressure guys, fyi. Did they forget to plug the sensor back in? or maybe damage the harness/connector? Seems like the most likely scenario...

The sensor looked fine and I unplugged and plugged back in when I got her home, just to make sure. Hopefully, Audi can tell me what it is tomorrow.

Disconnect the flux and recapacitate the linear distributor, make sure to replace the transgasket differential and reseal the biaxle manifold otherwise you could run into serious problems down the road.

Also I would make sure that there is 5 qts in there, drain the oil, put it back in.

Is the biaxle manifold the one between the whosamajingy and the fukifiknow valve?

I checked the oil level multiple times...its reading full!

Not trying to sound like a douche bag, but are you cleaning the dip stick, re-inserting and then pulling it out to read? Are you reading it after turning the car on and letting it idle then turning it off? The low oil light can be as simply as 1 qt less than it should be, but the dip stick level should make it obvious that it's low.

Looks like there was some road grime in the sensor plug connector from all this lousy weather that was causing a bad connection. Audi cleaned it out, re-connected it and I had them wrap some blk weather proof tape around the connection to better seal it from the elements.

Charged me $50 but gave me a free oil change coupon to make up for the charge. Not too shabby...oh, and they have her a bath.

That is the absolute worst of the bunch when it comes to oil consumption for me. The best have been LiquiMoli and Rotella T6 (which I am using now). Rotella is the best thus far.

I used 5w40 and was probably consuming 1 quart every 700 miles or so I was getting tired of that an was going to let the B7 GO. Then used 0w40 and since 5 months ago have not have any warning go on an for some reason it performes better in terms of acceleration..

You went from the reccomended weight burning 1 qt every 700 miles, to a NON reccommended burning nothing AND improving performance?

The shop I've been going too uses Mobil 1 exclusively as their synthetic brand. They charge me $60 for an oil change. I really can't complain as I've never had a consumption issue with it.
