Sports package or not on 2003 A4 B6

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi, I've been looking online for a while and still doesn't know what's the best way to know if my Audi A4 has the sport package or not.

I have the 17" wheels (with 235/45R17 tires), 3-spoke steering wheel (without S sign or anything like that http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...g-(from-B6-A4)), S mode in the automatic transmission. I feel like suspension is stiffer than some other cars, but not sure it means anything (I drove a 99 Passat and yes, this is stiffer on my Audi). Please take a look at my gallery and let me know.

    Thanks!

If you can fit a small child in the wheel gap, it's not sport. I think there the springs are a different color as well.

Oh man... That's exactly what I'd like! Could you tell me more details about your setup?
Rim size, offset, tire size, shocks/springs/lower details

That would be awesome. And How much the whole thing costs?

    Thanks!

So they look... not red. And not very sporty ahah.
There is some red, I don't know why, but definitely not totally red like I can see on some pics.

How is the ride with the Koni Yellow and H&R Sport Springs? I've read everything, and also if I put 18" wheels it should be less hard than 19" on road. California roads are not the best, so I wonder if it is THAT bad, or not and worth the investment. I found Koni Yellow struts and shocks + H&R sport springs for $750 (with shipping and everything). That sounds pretty nice.

For regular driving on smooth roads, it's as smooth as stock. But, if you happen upon a decent sized pothole, you will definitely feel it. Also, with the 38ETs, I found that 245 rubber is slightly too wide and will rub. However, the 235 is perfect to get that nice flush wheel/fender profile. If I could do it again, I would probably add an aftermarket TMPS system because it's hard to visually see if the tires are low.

I've been driving on Indianapolis roads for a year and a half without too many problems (except in winter with the phantom camoflaughed potholes ) and this state can't fix roads to save their lives.

(I won't even go into their apparent lack of skills in painting road lines. Really...who repaints road lines at 4pm without even closing traffic lanes! . Local car washes make a killing cleaning yellow paint off of cars.)

the 03 did come with a sports package. No idea what it consisted of. My Avant came with sports package, and that was heated mirrors, sports suspension (different from the 02) something else. ANd its completely stock now too

the 02 sports package came with the lowest spring setting and red shocks. that's only the real difference in the "Sports" package

All B6 A4s that have OEM sports packages, have a brace bar in the plenum. Without OEM sports package, no brace bar.

Huh? The plenum portion of a 1.8t motor is only about 4x12x3 inches on the intake manifold. And that's located on the drivers side of the car. I thought the B6 didn't need to have a tower brace because of the close proximity of the front firewall.

My sport package has the strut tower brace. I had no idea it was part of the sport package. I thought it was on all of the b6's. I can snap a picture in a bit if I remember. All it is, is a steel bar that goes across and connects both strut towers together. It keeps the frame from twisting when you are diving into a turn. For mustang owners, these are must have parts and only the GT500 comes with them......Go figure.

    Here is the strut brace.

You can see it right in front of the battery.

Yeah, I know what they are (I had a Cobra back in the day! ). I was just having problems picturing a bar "in the plenum". Especially on 4 cyl. I figured the 6 cyl motors would have one going across the top, but even then, I haven't ever seen a factory one.

    I was just seeking clarification.

I went out to look at my car and the front firewall seems to serve a similar purpose and there's a space issue for an upper brace which would seem redundant.

The brace is inside the compartment where the battery is.

i still dont understand how Audi thought it was ok to let cars roll off the lot like that. Also, even the new A4 s lines have too much gap!!

Rough/cobblestone roads in Europe? Plus I'm sure the manufacturing costs are significantly less for universal/less special package parts were significantly less.

Do the FWD A4's ride this high also? If not the ride height may be due to the functionality of "Quattro". Either way this thread just help me prove I have a 02 sport package. I recently purchased the car and was curious as to why it was so "low" stock. I've had it since Nov 13 and only drove it 5mins home.. I'm Soo ready. Pics if anyone is interested!!! Still new to Audis. I was a Subby guy.

FWD's were offered in regular and sport as well.

Mine came with the sport package, so it was a bit lower from the get-go, but IIRC, I've seen others that ride just as high as non-sport quattro models.

So the strut tower brace brackets are welded in from the factory then? That would require extensive welding to install. booooooooooo
