New to the forum... Hello.
I'm looking at purchasing an A4 from Carmax. The price is about market value, but it's a rare car and I've been searching for a while for one. The kicker is that it's located far away and there is a transfer fee to ship it to the store near me, $450.
My salesman told me that the transfer transaction is separate from the purchase transaction, so the fee cannot be waived. I told him to talk to his manger and to make it happen, otherwise I'm not interested.
My philosophy is that nothing is written in stone, and if they want to sell a car, they'll sell me the price of the car minus the transfer fee once it arrives.
Has anybody bought a car from Carmax where they had to pay for the car to be transferred?
Were they able to have the fee waived, or even applied to the price of the car?
Do you think they'll go for it? Any past experiences?
