    OEM 4 Piston Brembo calipers

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Did a search and came up with nothing. Have any of you guys done an upgrade to the OEM Brembo calipers from a 2013 Q5's? I know the ones from a 3.0T Q5 use a 345mm rotor 2.0T=320mm rotor) and I was under the assumption that the Q5's suspension components were similar to the b8 s4/a4 so technically they should bolt right up.

Update: I'll be installing them in August.

Unless you can find the calipers from a dismantler they would run $414 a side (New, purchased through Carson) and that's just the caliper alone, with pads you are looking at closer to $1K. As an alternative I would look into the TT-RS Front calipers they afford you the ability to run the oem 370mm TT-RS Rotor (granted you will need a 19" wheel) and the offset looks to be similar. Also they are much more abundant compared to the Q5 brembo and cheaper if found through certain avenues :)

I looked into the TTRS brakes already and unfortunately I was told that they wouldn't bolt onto the B8 platform. Looks like I can get 2 piece floating drilled/slotted rotors from ECS for $500, and I think I can get pads and the calipers for less than $1k. So I would be in around $1500 for a BBK upgrade on my avant. I just need to know if the calipers bolt straight up to the suspension since there aren't any carriers for these Brembo's right (they're built in)?

    Here are the rotors:

    Caliper:
Caliper- OEM Q5 4 piston Brembo's (If you guys know where to score them cheap, let me know. Already looked on Rockauto and ECS)

I think if you're going to go that far, might as well add just a tab bit more money and get the RS5 Brembos. Much better setup in my opinion.

But those are over $3k right? My setup will be less than half that. Trying to save because I need to upgrade my turbo too. They'll fit behind my RS5 wheels easily, but I need the brakes to fit behind my enkei nt03's too.

wwhan, thanks so much, that's the thread I was looking for!

Is this even worth the upgrade on a B8 S4?

i think it would be marginal at best, the reason i feel that way is that you are not dissipating the heat any better and it is still the same size rotor. Granted you are reducing a little weight and getting better feel from the caliper. Would i be able to feel it , most likely not.

Worth it for me since the two piece rotor has much better cooling capabilities and the calipers are fixed and 4 piston. Great oem solution on the cheap. Honestly, my dream avant that would be in my price range is a b8S4 avant, but unfortunately that isn't going to happen here in the States. Anyways, think about how heavy a Q5 3.0 Diesel is, and how much weight it has to stop when it's towing a few tons in addition to it's overweight self. If it's good enough for that, I think it's good enough for my avant that I don't track. I do however go for mountain and canyon runs quite often. Here is a pic of her:

For pads, im going with posi-quiet ceramics. Lol, the color is matched to the porsche spyder brakes. I'm sure they'll be coming out with a lot more pad options soon.

Also curious on real world tests, if just the calipers make a noticeable difference. I hate the brake fade just on spirited driving.

Do you think the sq5 stuff would be better? anyone make a LW rotor for the 380mm? Prices are about the same as the Q5 4 piston.

This is an upgrade from stock, not only because it's lighter, cools better, and prevents brake fade, but the calipers are 4 piston fixed calipers with a lot more clamping force than our A4/S4 setups.

Bernardi Parts has the calipers for $380/piece. You need 8R0-615-107-E and 8R0-615-108-E

Stoptech has the centric posi-quiet ceramic pads for <$50 part # 105.16630

2 piece floating rotors were purchased through ecs tuning, but you can get JHM or from other companies $500-700. You can always get 1 piece rotors for $100-200

Hey Kris, I looked into the SQ5 brakes too and I went with the 3.0T Q5 Brembo setup because of the rotor selection. Also, I think the only benefit of the SQ5 setup is the larger rotor. It still only uses a 4 piston setup with pretty much the same size pad and same clamping force. I searched, but couldn't find any 2 piece options. Plus it looks like the stock 1 piece blank 2 SQ5 rotors cost just as much as a 2 piece floating setup for the Q5 3.0T/S4

Wonder what is more beneficial, a larger disk or the clamping force.

hmm, would r8 rotors work with the sq5 calipers on our car.

I don't think I ever had a problem with the clamping force of the stock calipers. I had a problem with the heat dissipation capacity of the discs. I don't see how this mod will help anyone. 380mm is the size disc this car needs, in two piece or floating rotor construction.

Well, I know they're better than what came on our cars and that's good enough for me. I'll let u guys know what I think about them when I get them on. Hopefully they dont just look pretty and provide some real world improvements. If its good enough to stop a heavy diesel 3.0T q5 thats towing a few tons, it should be good enough for my avant. If they weren't better, I'd assume Audi would have used the same calipers that they used on our cars to save money. Either way, a fixed 4 piston is better than our setup without a doubt. Also, dont forget how cheap these were. I also needed an oem kit that would fit behind every single one of my wheels. I probably could've consolidated and sold 3-4 sets of my wheels and purchased an aftermarket bbk, but then I would have to be spending more than this setup on rotors alone...probably not a good idea on a car that I don't even track.

Love the color on the calipers. Will definitely do those same rotors when the time comes.
I often always wondered if there was any issue with brake bias after getting stronger fronts...

Those are going to look great Question for you all, Since the A4 uses the same caliper as the S4 with the exception of different caliper carriers and rotors would these work on the A4 if I got the correct sized S4 rotors as well? I think this would be a great upgrade for us A4 guys that want a "BBK" without the price of a true BBK.

Edit: For those who care or have an A4 like myself, ECS tuning offers this "Brake upgrade" With Calipers, Plain rotors, stainless lines, fluid and caliper mounting hardware for $949. All you would need on top would be pads.

Hey buddy, you are correct. The S4's have the exact same caliper as the A4 except the different carrier to accommodate for the larger rotors. My car is an A4 so yes it'll bolt right up. You'll just need the 345mm rotors, Brembo calipers, and pads. I just bought pads today on partsgeek for $43.
