My Droid Razr Maxx is in fact my Boost, IAT, and AFR gauge. Super great app.
Easier than using my laptop+obd2 cable for data logging.
The O2 voltage graphs and fuel trims are a plus.

There is a similar app on iTunes that is way more expensive and a joke. Typical iCrap.

Luckily I still had my HTC spare so I rock that whenever I feel like using the Torque app.

plus most paid android apps can be found free with a quick google search (hint hint), not that one shouldn't support developers, try and if you like buy it. It's like a new car test drive.

I've used it a couple of times. I think it goes off of the speedo by default but can be changed to GPS. You do need to be stationary for 3 to 5 seconds before it's ready. If you shifts slowly and your mph fells too much it would reset and not give you a time. (Never had this problem but came up when I researched the app)

    It also 1/4 mile, 1/8 mile, 0-30, 0-100, 100-0, 40-60, 60-120, 60-0, etc. It's very powerful of $25(app plus OBD-2)

I've had this app since it was released on Android Market. OBD2 and 95% of the functions always worked great, but the boost never worked at all. I haven't tried it for about 2-3 years now, so it is good to see it was fixed. I never got rid of the app, though. Even if you are doing nothing but pulling codes, it is a priceless app to have. Cheap bluetooth OBD adapter, and in 45 seconds you can pull codes and save them, email them, upload them... etc.

I bought it when it was $1.99. :)

The ecu can output boost in real time. wideband sensor can be wired into one of the back 02 sensors. Could you log a graph of your afr and boost with rpm? If so this is powerful!!

My 01 A4 has wideband so you can see the measured AFR in real time.
It has a graphing program but I don't like it. It can do data logging of multiple engine ECU sensor data. It's nice because VCDS can only log in mBar, while Torque can log in PSI and vacuum inHg. You can upload your logs as a CSV document (excel) and make graphs. Logs just as fast as any normal OBD II cable with VCDS Vag Com, but it doesn't have the ability to measure the amount of information VCDS can, like demanded boost.

I usually have a realtime graph of boost over time so I can see the boost curve during pulls, along with a digital display of instantaneous boost/vac with an IAT display as well. You can have ultimate versatility with this app, there's a free trial download.

One of my fav features is the Track Recorder that records video with gauge overlays in realtime. Can get glitchy though.

So your saying that it can do rpm and a/f and boost, but you prefer vag com. and vag com can log a ton more options? Sounds like this app is an awesome way to moniter many things like a zt-2 or 3 has that lcd display. I think im definitely going to go this route over a ton of gauges.

It's about as good as it can get for an Andoid app that's for sure! Considering VCDS (aka Vag COM) has the ability to see over 100 types of sensor data from the ECU, it is a lot more versatile for diagnosing something very specific like wastgate duty cycle and individual cylinder knock sensor activity. http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/m_blocks/

I like that ZT unit, very nice screen that can be mounted anywhere. Especially if you don't have wideband O2.

V1nny I actually contemplated that idea. If you can access the Google Play Store on the head unit and download Torque or just transfer the app and given it has a bluetooth capability, I don't see why I couldn't be used.

Pardon my lacking knowledge of the S4 platform, but app receives readings from the MAP sensors assuming the car has them on the charge pipes. If not the MAP, it can convert MAF readings to boost and vac.

Logging is easy. You pick the sensor data you want it to record like time, AFR, IAT, boost. Then you simply tell it to start logging. It records data in Comma Separated Value spreadsheets similar to VCDS. From there you can make any graphs from time vs. boost or rpm vs boost. Logs can be emailed to your account or uploaded to the torque site for download.

Here's a pic of my old install. My phone now is mounted horizontally on the driver most side air vent with a RAM Mount and a Brodit Universal Over Vent Mount. (http://www.brodit.com/brodit.html?pn=home)
This setup is uses one of these nifty adapter plates with a universal phone holder : (http://www.panavise.com/pdf_indash/75102-600.pdf)

You can get pretty creative with the app. Oh, and it has a Heads Up Display mode so if you put the phone on a stick pad right up against the windshield it acts as a HUD at night.

I just bought the cheapest ELM 327 dongle off eBay which apparently is going for $1 with shipping. I may buy some spares since the chip inside can become separated they are sandwiched together kind of like the way old APR chips fit. (requires you to push it back together).
I got that blue one and it works like a charm. You can make an Android Smart Action so it automatically connects and launches Torque when you get in your car.

Thank you! The boost gauge is probably more responsive though since its directly connected to the IM depending on your setup. I find the app runs pretty fast, it can show boost instantaneously if you don't have background apps running lol. Why not run both? Heck for the free stripped down trial version it'd be fun for people interested just to see what it can do. Can't remember if you need the full version for the boost function though. Look into the Track Recorder though, its the coolest thing ever if you have a powerful fast Android, unlike mine :(

I don't think there is a list unless you connect to your OBD2 bluetooth dongle. Next time I drive I'll try and take screenshots of what information the app has access to on the B5s. Not sure if the S4 has an oil pressure sender, at least the A4 doesn't (Audi Engineers, WHY?). For something like that you'd need to install a pressure sender, many locate one at the oil cooler. Id assume you need an actual gauge for that unless you know how to connect the proper relays and all that jazz.

I'm looking at the list and trying to recall what the B5 is compatible with.

    0-30
    0-60
    0-100 MPH
    40-60
    60-0
    60-130

    AFR Measured (For wideband)
    Catalyst Temperature
    Commanded Equivalence Ratio (Lambda)
    Engine Coolant Temperature
    Engine Load
    Engine RPM
Short term and Long Term Fuel Trim Banks
    GPS Speed
    Calculate HP at the Wheels
    Intake Air Temp
    MAF rate (CFM)
    O2 Equivalence Ratio
    O2 Voltage (wideband)
    Throttle Position
    Speed GPS and or OBD
    Timing Advance
    Calculated Torque
    Transmission Fluid Temperature
    Turbo Boost and Vacuum
    Voltage
    Calculated Volumetric Efficiency

Note: the HP and calculated torque is based on the weight you input under settings along with displacement for volumetric efficiency
Some users may have varying sensor compatibility based on the car and OBD2 dongle, yet most dongles can read all of these listed features, with catalyst temp as an exception because I'm not even sure if I can access that lol.

It must be noted that the app has about a 2 second delay and pulls data roughly every 1 second. This is not useful for real time boost logging, but great for checking temperatures and all the different averaged data's, instant not so much.

Extremely useful app, worth the $30 dongle and $5 app.

My phone doesn't have a delay and refreshed the boost gauge instantaneously up to 5 readings per second. I found that I was able to get this accuracy by running an app killer in the background to keep everything running fast. If you have more than 4 gauges on one screen it can definitely slow down. With MAF and Boost/Vac the readings are instantaneous, with Boost/Vac and IAT the readings are around every half second. Which is still better than VCDS.

IT has nothing to do with the phone, it has to do with the car's ECU and KW protocol being very slow. Realistically it is possible to pull 3.3 samples tper second per measuring block (look up "vag measuring blocks"). Once you have to tap into another block because you need more variables, you start sharing the bandwidth. With vag-com, running 4 different blocks at once will have you one refresh per 1.33s or soemthing like that. This will be exactly the same with this app/dongle. Unusable for logging.

This only works well with can-bus devices who have far faster ECU communications.

Dedicated logger like ME7 Logger (go to nefmoto to look it up) can do real time with 10s of variables with real time refresh (I usually log 10 samples per second)

Considering a lot of people use VCDS for logging, Torque isn't a bad alternative. Never liked logging in VCDS because of the poor refresh delay and needing my laptop + cable. On the app I clocked my sensor refresh speed at 4-5 PID/second. Not sure if you need a FT232RL for ME7 Logger though. 2 completely different interfaces. I wouldn't say it's unusable for logging IMO, especially if you use the track recorder. For tuning that requires super detailed logging this probably isn't the best, but for wireless basic logs it works well.
