Speaking of s100, has anyone tried adding a CarPlay dongle?

    https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F352706911369.
Wondering if it would work with the original s100 units.

Has anyone tried, or seen someone else try to get a clean digital signal out of these android units into a DSP or something? Those android units look cool and all but I don't trust they'll have good audio at all when compared to a high end Alpine unit or something. I love looking OEM, but Audio matters a lot to me as well lol.

Not technically a Nav unit - it doesn't have a GPS ... but it does have Apple Car Play (and whatever the Android equivalent is). I like the Apple maps feature, and having it with a larger screen and voice prompts through the aisles is awesome.
What 2din frame installed? link or name vendor code

from my friends b6/b7 stereo, speaker and OEM amp are the bottleneck.
my android unit got a richer and clearer sound than the OEM II+.

And for groundloop noise, there's a how-to few pages back.

Anyone try the linked unit below? I know its only a 2GB dash but it seems to run good with the added dongle to use Apple play. Any input would be appreciated, not a big fan of the OEM looking units but that seems to be the go to option on this thread. TIA

that's a standard double din unit that runs an old SoC and old version of Android (6.0). I can't see a single reason to purchase it, esp when newer "all screen" HUs are now available with direct fit and a current SoC (PX6)

Personally, rather than try to replicate the OEM look of the RNS-E, with low-quality Chinese units, I would go with units from either Pioneer, Kenwood, Sony or Alpine.

Yep, my tablet finally got too unreliable to keep it mounted in the car, went with a Kenwood 9906XR to replace it. Works nicely, wireless and wired Android Auto are decent, has plenty of features, debating whether to bother adding a Maestro RR unit.

    Sounds good.

Does your car have MFSW, if yes, were you able to retain steering wheel controls?

Yeah, has an MFSW and steering wheel controls work. Used a harness from Enfig that I already had from the tablet install, was pretty much plug and play.

This video covers the installation in an A4. I think your SEAT has the same radio.

I've kind of been wondering how one of these double din oversized units would look in our cars.

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QV6RQ4N...NsaWNrPXRydWU=

It'd be nice if one of them had a digital output so that if I'm not happy I can add an external DSP though lol. I don't really see anything like that though.

The Alpine ILX units I listed have the updated look that comes in vehicles now. The screens are floating and 9 inches and use a single din; so you don't get all of the negative space that was previously associated with typical aftermarket solutions. Like this:

The main reason for me being interested in this is to have the option of a back-up camera that is activated when placing the vehicle in reverse.

Otherwise, I think an ipad mini with data will take care of everything I need as far as music, nav, and any other apps.
Please post pics if you try the alpine, I've kind of been toying with that idea as well lol. My only gripe with it is no wireless android auto or carplay.

The Stinger Elev8 has an optical output... https://stingerelectronics.com/catalog/multimedia/elev8

I looked into them briefly, but decided against it as the display would have sit way out from the dash due to the way the center console is shaped in the B7. For me it would have looked like garbage, you might be fine with it though.

The Alpine unit is fully adjustable for how far out and high/low it'll sit. Still not sure it would look good or not lol. The nice thing about the alpine is you can mount it in the upper slot as it's only a single din unit.

The optical out is nice on the stinger, but that's a lot of money if I'm not using it's internal processing lol.

I hear you, the Kenwood I am running now cost about that much and I'm using none of its internal processing, just a pair of RCAs out to a Mini DSP 8x12DL. One of the reasons I hated giving up a tablet, basically a cheap media player that has no internal processing so I did not care about bypassing all of it. Oh well.

What's with car displays being limited to 1024x600? lol Even stinger acts like that's some crazy high resolution screen but honestly it's pretty low res for a screen that size.

How do you like your mini-DSP setup. I have a nice USB to I2S interface that is android compatible so I was thinking of using it with a nice DAC into a Mini-DSP or something with one of the android head units. I'm not 100% certain it will work, but it should. Android has had support for USB audio interfaces since like lollipop I believe.....or ICS something like that.

Hmm I'm kind of tempted to get one of these

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RFQJM96...ding=UTF8&th=1

Or the 8.8" unit, and get an extended cable and dash mount the screen. I'd have to figure out something to put in the radio slot.....But I think it might be cool. Also these units use the latest Atom CPU, 4gb of ram, and has an SPDIF digital output. So you could connect it to an external DSP.

I'm very happy with it, for the price it's hard to beat. Depending on how many speakers you wanted to run you could get away with using the C-DSP 6x8 which is only $275, another cheap DSP is the Dayton Audio DSP-408 for $150. A DAC into a DSP will work perfectly, the Nexus 7 I had used Android 4 and USB audio worked perfectly into any of the DSP's I used (JBL MS8, Audison BitOne.1, Helix DSP and now the Mini DSP). If you end up with a DSP that has an optical input, pick up a Sabre USB DAC and run digital into the DSP.

Hmm that dayton DSP doesn't look bad actually. Too bad it doesn't have digital input lol. Seems to be a lot of decent DSP's now for the money though, the JL TWK-88 looks decent too.

yikes wont fit the car period. Even on modern car (mazda , bmw ) it looks odd. Like if the designers forget about a screen and they put it randomly on the dash.
Anyway, helps to keep the eye up, so not a bad thing.

    keep searching and report

Have someone installed 9" Alpine unit ? Alpine in Europe, UK, Australia ect. offers a double din kit:

    https://www.alpine.com.au/shop/perfe...208au-audi-a4/

Here is the kit in the UK Alpine web site:
    https://www.alpine.co.uk/p/Products/SingleView/KIT-8A4

Will that harness work with USDM cars ? If yes then only will have to see which 8" models Alpine USA is offering in the USA.

Will that harness work with USDM cars ? If yes then only will have to see which 8" models Alpine USA is offering in the USA.
It should, there isn't a difference as far as I know. That one looks pretty decent, most of the double din covers just don't look right.

Anyway, helps to keep the eye up, so not a bad thing.

    keep searching and report
There was a model in Europe that it pops up from the dash like that, I’ve been browsing the classifieds in Switzerland

The camera got a RCA (yellow) for the image and a 12v+ wire.
    - rca to the video input from the xtrons
    - 12v+ to the backup light from the car.
    - you'll need to make a little hole in the license plate OEM light to get the wire through. And if you have an avant, good luck.

do you have a complete assembly with the integrated cam, or a cam in the light bulb socket?

cam should be use as a quick initial scan for people/animals/object. Not for backuping, hate seeing retards in cheap ass hyundai taking 2 minutes to get out a parking spot because they are looking in front.... If you people dont have xxxx hours of trucker training, please look back in reverse lol sorry for the offtopic
