I'm far from the expert so fact-check me, but I think that unit is to lower the input levels from the HU. I have the PAC equivalent and it made the volume very very low. Perhaps the scosche unit can do both?

Unfortunately, there aren't many possibilities to do this wrong....IF you rely on the plug and play aspect of the unit. My car isn't the same model as yours. It's an RS4 that came originally with RSN-E and Bose. I've found a few threads about it and it seems the harnesses vary quite a bit depending on a few different aspects. I suspect a pin needs to be moved, grounded or something along those lines. I think the wiring isn't correct for this application from Erisin. The fact that they told me that it "works with Bose" and the fact that I now know that just having Bose doesn't mean your wiring is the same from year to year and RNS-E vs Symphony units just tells me that the seller doesn't know all of the applications and it's likely that the manufacturer doesn't test the unit in more than one application.

I'm going to give the harness a closer look tonight and see if they have something wrong, I suspect they do.

Yes, this is really the only way to send sound to a Bose setup - no choice but to connect those RCAs.

I installed this unit today. First impressions:

-There is definitely a hum. I'll experiment with the scosche unit tomorrow.
-My wifi connection is VERY slow. My car is parked right next to my router and it takes 3 or 4 minutes to download a webpage. When I'm connected
To my iPhone hotspot it goes very fast.

How do you reset an android? I've always had iOS and I hold the two buttons and it does a hard reboot. I'd like to try this with the Erisin but I'm Android dumb.

There is a little reset pinhole button on the front of the head unit. Did you try that?

Alternatively, you can try to reset to factory defaults in the config settings.

careful you don't mistake it for the BT microphone. I found on mine if you hold the power button for like 15 seconds it rests everything



Can anyone give me pointers on getting torque to pair with my ELM BT Dongle? It works on my phone but not with the car, I went into the android native BT menu and it shows paired and I also went into the BT app and it shows paired there but wont recognize in torque. Might try reinstalling torque.

I am also looking at this unit - looks similar as but more expensive than Erisin unit. However, if this works better than Erisin, would get this instead. Any issues so far? any infamous radio noise?

Only thing I've noticed is that the speakers get very loud very quick with the radio volume as opposed to Bluetooth audio needing to be much higher than the radio making the switch back potentially very loud. It came from china so it was pretty cheap, they have android based ones and windows CE based ones. I have the windows CE one. Bluetooth connected easily and the entire unit was plug and play and has a nice reverse feature to flip to a camera if you choose to get one. Haven't noticed any real problems yet though I haven't spent a ton of time with it. Here's the link to my purchase and a pic of the plug and play harness. One was for the wiring and the other for the antenna as well as a gps module and free Kudos maps for gps.

NP, the one I got looked exactly like that but I saved roughly $140. It comes with a canbus decoder, display is perfect appears to be 1080 I messaged them initially about the quality as I saw lower res on the listing but it's very crisp, no way it's the 800x480 listed. It has a USB that I ran into my glove box behind my cd changed that I plan to take out soon and appears to provide the same options for mobile data, wifi, etc if you purchase them separately and add them (mine came with Bluetooth and GPS receiver + SD cars for maps). Plays dvds, games, has built in mic, appears to be exactly what's on that site but cheaper. I didn't want windows CE but I didn't notice till I purchased and honestly it's a car radio and going overboard on processor power is likely not needed when it's only doing small functions but I haven't played a DVD and many games on it. I just got it for Bluetooth and a little dose of the 21st century inside lol

Actually, the instructions said not to ground them unless you get no sound. When I tried grounding them to test - it actually re-introduced the buzzing. So I did not ground them.

Guys, just to clarify, ECS and Erisin are just re-sellers. They're made by Hui Fei and a couple of others.

You need to look at the MCU to determine who the manufacturer is.

Hmm if it will play them my guess is it will be through USB, Burned to a DVD or an SD card. I'll try that out soon and see if the manual says anything as well as get a couple video types on media sources and try it out.

If your android is too slow to run 7.0.0 and Waze/maps in 2020 require 7.0.0 at minimal, you're srcewed. youll need to use older version .apk and they might not work for online data (traffic, cops , etc)

buying the latest, fasted units, will buy you time on app updates.

If your android is too slow to run 7.0.0 and Waze/maps in 2020 require 7.0.0 at minimal, you're srcewed. youll need to use older version .apk and they might not work for online data (traffic, cops , etc)

buying the latest, fasted units, will buy you time on app updates.

The hardware is pretty similar. Many mods available to make it work with newer codecs etc, and core boards are available. You can also solder more RAM on.

Mine seems plenty quick. 8-core (if that's true), 2gb, Android 6. $319 shipped. There are other sellers offering less performance and older OS for more money.

Phones these days have "octo" core cpus even, it's just very misleading. Usually half is not running at all and the higher performance cores only run when needed, but always only 4 at a time. Just a way to split the load/heat somewhat more efficiently than ever having them all run at once

What's a true plug and play unit that I can get that doesn't have all of these problems? I don't mind if it looks oem but I want all my functions to work (steering wheel) I don't want to spend more than $400-500?

This happened to me.

I did a firmware update (to the firmware I already had) and it fixed the problem.

This has happened once in 3 years.
