Finally got the file to extract. Had the correct one all along, but the two apps I was using would not work with the file for some reason. Tried the one you used and worked like a charm. Thanks sir!

Ok. Notice any advantage to the updated MCU? I've already emailed Ivan with the information. I'm also going to try going the RoadNav route as well since Ivan is probably just a store front manager (eBay) manager and probably doesn't deal with software. Sorry.

Please be careful guys. You're unit has to be flashed with the correct version. There are a lot of versions out there. Follow the tutorial that someone posted. READ IT FIRST THEN FLASH. It's safe if you follow the instructions.

I still didn't receive the file. Maybe I just need to pm you my email again.

If it crashes like that try to get the right file and reflash. It may not be hard bricked yet.

Did you use the file that I received? It looks like your MCU and the APP updated. The dimming is a setting in the options of the actual head unit. once I get home and in my car, it'll be easier to actually find the submenu that you need to go into but it should have something to do with display. There were only two options. Day brightness and Night brightness. Once I adjusted that, the screen brightness changes once the lights come on. As far as CANBUS having anything next to it, it's blank on mine as well but functions just the same. It almost looks like you installed an older software. If I sent it to you in an email then please let me know and I'll get back in the email to Ivan.

It's definitely newer firmware/software than what was on your head unit originally. The one I received is for a C050 but after a few folks have tried it with no successful update of bluetooth, I'm going to be holding on to it until I get some additional clarity from RoadNav.

OK so basically I found the answer to this some Bluetooth displaying artist and track info. And the answer SUCKS.

Its a hardware thing. It either comes with it or not . Bluetooth can not be updated if your Bluetooth number starts with ZH**** .

Edit: Hate to rub it in, but just checked my System info and based on the post on the RoadNav forum, my unit's BT chip should be upgradeable. (I don't currently have track text displayed) I have the new files, just need to find time to try and update. I'll keep everyone posted.


In other news I have purchased and installed Kotix's full skin pack and it's pretty sweet. It's more than just skins, there are a bunch of functionality features added such as being able to directly input radio station numbers, save radio station names in memory and as on screen buttons, rearrange button functions, change default music player apps, and much slicker designs. Also some cool transitions when switching between apps. There's even good opportunity to customize the skins yourself if you have basic programming/graphic skills.

Yes, install is pretty easy, similar process to updating the unit. Once the initial skin loader is added, you can launch the skin app from the USB port or DVD Micro SD Port as well, no need to remove your nav micro SD card to change or load skins.

Haven't tried the ipod browsing yet, but I will. If it hasn't been improved already, it's definitely be a good request for Kotix.
The Nitrogen music player (for playing music off a USB drive) that is included with the skins is supposed to be able to read standard playlist files and basic .jpg album art which would be nice, haven't played around with it much. The Nitrogen music player is a bit slow though for loading and changing tracks. Will try it out more thoroughly when I have time!

Haha, yes, this is also turning into a RoadNav update thread. I had thought about creating a specific s100/s150 thread but this thread is 90% about the s100 already so probably no point in starting a different thread now... Thoughts?

Yeah, I'm not sure. Unless the specific Bluetooth chip they're using doesn't actually hold firmware/software, I don't fathom that there couldn't be some type of software/code/patch, etc written to allow it to receive additional metadata. I'm going to continue to try and work this from multiple angles.

I do not know about having it come in whenever. I just got a male to make 12v cable and a male to make video cable. Done in 5 minutes after tucking the wires

Did you wire it to the reverse light or just a 12 volt? I bought a cheap one and wired it to the reverse light but it won't come on at all. I figure they all work roughly the same.

Yea but the camera I have has a power and ground wire which I have wired to the reverse light. So the only cable I have going to the S100 is the yellow video cable. I'll see if I can find that power cable to connect to the S100.
