List of Modifications for my 02 Allroad 2.7T - Opinions and Thoughts

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
hey Everyone, So soon I will be doing some major modifications and upgrades to my 2002 Audi Allroad 2.7T. This is my second Allroad I have owned. My first one was a Stage one which met its fate when the transmission went out completely and destroyed the Torque Converter and the soul of the car. Now, I have this one...

    [IMG][/IMG]

Now, I have done a lot of research and studied a lot about my Allroad from top to bottom and what type of Modifications I want to do.

For the time being, I will be doing these modifications right now.....

Silly Rabbit Side Mount Intercoolers Upgrade
Silly Rabbit Bi-pipes with Meth plugs for future use
Silly Rabbit 4 inch Y-pipe Intake
    Silly Rabbit 3 inch Downpipes
3 inch Exhaust valve Cutouts on Downpipes
Rest Full 3 inch exhaust from the Down pipe to the Back
Silly Rabbit Bosch EV14 Injectors 52lbs.
GIAC Performance Tune and Tiptronic Tuning

This a list of modifications I want to do for the time being. Just trying to get a bit more power and colder air for my Allroad so I can take it on more trips. I made an amazing trip this weekend where I drove from Oakland down to Capistrano Beach, about 40 miles north of San Diego. I left with my girl at around 730pm on Friday night so I can take advantage of the cold evening air in the valley on the I-5. The car took the drive flawlessly arriving in LA in around 3.5 hours.......

Using a Prius as my Drafting car......saved me some dollars.

    After this great picture,

We woke up the following morning and decided to take the drive back to the Bay are going on the 101 thru the nice roads between Santa Barbara to Santa Maria passing Lompoc. It was a great drive and the car performed great on the ride.

Now, I want to get a bit more life out of my Allroad and allow the engine to unleash itself in a more controlled form, even with a Tiptronic transmission.

Let me know what you guys think of the list above. I want to car to be set up to take the JHM RSR6 Turbos.

    Thanks
May the Force be with you!!!!

IMO you're missing the most important mod: swapping to a 6 speed manual.

In my opinion modifying a tiptronic trans is a terrible idea. You're asking to have your trans go out on you, and chipping stock ko3's is also asking for trouble. You start to find the weak points of the car reallllllllly quick.

Also, why are you upgrading fuel injectors on ko3's?

Don't people run all sorts of miles on plain old stage 1/2 setups, especially anything the eliminates the pre-cat?

Trans question is fair though they seem to go out on stock cars all the time too. Might as well plan to build the trans no matter what. Not everyone wants/needs a manual.

They do, and eliminating the precats is huge, as is proper warm up/cool down of turbos.

While chipping might not necessitate blown turbos, it usually is a prelude to highlighting weak ignition components such as icm's and coil packs, boost leaks, egt sensors going out, etc, etc, etc.

Keeping on with Zamorano's thread idea, is there a starter outline/ check list we can devise for the C5 and other platforms where a newbie (like me) can get the basics out of the way in stages? I'd think before modding anything it'd best to have the car(s) running at optimum OEM state first. With the AR's, to take care of the "usual" issues like the cluster LCD's, the air ride, etc...then start going after things like SAI and IMMO deletes, 402 mod's etc, then go after the more advanced mod's makes sense. My car has the bad lcd and I don't know which darn IMMO it's got (k0mpresd, can you help with this?) and other issues. I have the 6mt which is a blast to drive and is the best mod already out of the way! I don't mean to hijack Zamaorano510, I'll start a new thread if I'm off topic to what he's looking for. Seemed like he was jumping the gun a bit.

I was reading up on the Performance upgrade for the Coil packs on the 2.7T and I will be doing that upgrade as well. Installing the ignition coils spacers and adapters. I was told and it states that its more efficient for the car and its spark output to the engine.

Im just trying to get a bit more power out of my Allroad and yes, Its a tiptronic but that doesn't essentially mean that I cant open up the breathing potential of my car. We the tiptronic has a threshold so I have to keep the torque increase to a minimum in order to not damage the rest of the Drivetrain. I just want some simple nice modifications and hopefully get some good power and sound out of the engine.

Yes, I would love a manual Allroad but a manual and tiptronic will have almost the same repair quote whether the tranny on a Tip goes out or the clutch on a manual goes out. The Equivalent replacement is almost the same to just replace the clutch, flywheel and anything else in that location.

I believe I understand what you are referring to. My Allroad is in great OEM state and everything I had to replace when I bought it had be replaced or upgraded. Currently, Its in very good and ideal shape to lightly modify. One of the best places to take a look at the info to fix some of this things are on the Allroad Tech thread on Audizine. Also, a really great source for service and repair for your Allroad is "Allroadfaq" This has help me with both of my Allroads.
