Sedan roof racks <3

I had a strange dream where I won 5000 dollars from a scratch ticket and in my dream I bought concave rims, coilovers and roof racks with 2 kayaks on them! Woke up super happy and motivated to get racks!
I had them on my mk5 Jetta and loved em.

There are 2 forsale on craigslist in my area. A5 for 225 and q5 for 300 new in box . Q5 guy says they will fit my sedan, true?

I don't think the Q5 one will work since the Q5 has roof bars which the A4 does not..unless it's a universal one for any car. But I could be wrong.

Do you know if the racks are OEM or aftermarket? That could help you figure out if they fit or not.

ECS tuning shows different part numbers for A5 vs A4 Audi base racks.

If they're something like thule or yakimas, they have a better chance of fitting though you may need to purchase a new foot kit for them

There's an s4 in my area that has roof racks, they do look nice. I would have no justification for buying them as I would never use them, but if I needed to at least they aren't hideous. I'd go OEM, aftermarket racks don't look nearly as good compared to those.

OEM roof rack, I would of went with after market but this was pretty much given to me!

I went with an oem rack and love it, it's great for surfing and snowboarding, but I really like the lower profile of the whispbars

^^ Nothing will be able to top that , but like Jimmine and staticuxo said, definitely go with the Whispbars. I ran an older round bar style Yakima setup on my B8 but only because I carried over the setup from my old B6 and B7. The Whispbars are significantly quieter.

Why not just buy the oem b8 one? Or can you get your hands on a q5 for the low?
On a side note:

I have the oem one with the Audi bike rack and wanted another bike rack for the other side of the car. Did some searching and couldn't source a bike rack that has the key hole and bar located on the passenger side so I went ahead and bought the Porsche bike rack and hoping it fits. They both look identical other than a Porsche emblem on it.

New forum, Im getting out smarted by posting pictures again. Im rocking a Whispbar set up. However like you heathens Im not running the over the door set up, I had mine directly mounted to my roof (yes I drilled holes in the roof) and I love the set up. As soon as I can post a picture I will.

The oem a4 b8 ones costs 3xx usd ex shipping, and im able to get the q5 ones for 100 usd local. Thus I was thinking if it could be done, with some minor changes. Q5 bars are aplenty here in my area...

Thule aeroblade cross bars, yakima ski/snowboard rack, and rockymounts euro pitchfork bike carriers. Sold my A4 but still have the crossbars (sold off the ski rack and bike carriers). Could sell them to you for a good price but not really wanting to ship. Located in Denver, CO. Here's a better pic:

i wouldnt mind this at all even tho i would never actually use it.
if i go snowboarding ill just put the board inside the car lol
