The advantage of silver and white is you can do any highlight colors and everything will look good where a red car, just for example, would have very few options. I have a white b8 and that will get a green treatment also because i am thinking of doing orange on the B5.

While there are a lot of codes for acid green for Porsche that i tried to mix two versions and both ended up looking like the early grass green that was on the old 914s. I was looking for the 918 caliper colors. I ended up custom matching from a bunch of photos of the 918 calipers and trim pieces.
When I was media blasting the factory silver coating off the 18z calipers i was fully prepared to have to blast off plastic powder coat. It was silver paint and and black paint for the logo over a tough black primer. After digging a bit found out that none of the Porsche 18z and 17z come powder coated. High heat primer, base coat then for some colors(like red) a clear top coat. I have helped people install ecs BBK and they were painted also. I recently helped a friend repair the finish on his early 90's 911 that had some blistering and fading of his red calipers. Once again it was clear over paint. Very easy to fix by quick clear over.
Once you get over not needing to powder coat the color options opens up significantly. I did mine in Endura 2K. High heat primer, color coat and then top coat in clear. My rear calipers and covers i did just with primer and color coat and are holding up perfectly. I don't think i will ever powder coat anything again with the new high heat chemical resistant industrial coatings that are available now.
Can't argue with the eye popping results
