Gentlemen. Has anyone successfully deleted they're cat and fooled the ecm by using the non fowlers like I'm attempting to do?

Dunno what non fowlers are...but I'm about to yank my test pipe out (prolly today) and it'll be up for sale. Its 034 3in with both o2 bungs. I believe it's not supposed to throw codes but I had motoza adjust the limits on the num2 o2 sensor because it was giving me cel. Never problems since then.

    Pm me if you're interested.

I ordered the test pipe from ecs tuning. I just need to know if it will work if I space the second o2 sensor out of the stream a little.

I might, it might not. If I had to put a number on it from all the posts I have read across numerous B6 forums I give it a two out of three chance of working.

Wow. This really makes me nervous. I got pulled over this morning for not having an inspection sticker dude to my check engine light of catalytic failure.

I have the JHM pipe and no CEL. No problems regarding it since my install (about 5000 miles). Also I thought it was a sweet design as the bottom holes are threaded so you don't need nuts on the end. Makes it so much easier.

I second this...my ECU had to be APR'd inorder for it to work! I tried everything before...nothing worked! So it may...it may not...

    Indeedy!

I install exhaust studs, which IMO makes it easy, vise trying to tighten bolts and nuts in that cramped location!

Do you have a J pipe? Or some kind of spacer for the rear O2 sensor?

Just a straight spacer seems not to do the trick in most cases. You need a spacer with a 90 or "J" bend in it.

Why not just get a tune written for a test pipe? The tune itself WILL code of the cel AND set the cat's readiness so that one can pass state inspections.

Non-fowlers, J- plugs, etc. work only if youre lucky.

Police aren't going to bother you about whether or not you have a check engine light on or even a cat for that matter. Fix your vehicle so it can pass inspection (are you sure its a failed converter and not just an o2 sensor?). Once you get that figured out install your test pipe and see if you get a check engine light. If you do either run a anti fowler like others have said or search for one with a mini catalyst at the end which will fool the sensor into thinking the cat is installed. Or run a tune which codes the rear o2 sensor out.

    Good luck!

I could. I've personally never tried it but I don't see why not.

I would first pin point what exactly is causing the CEL. What codes are you actually getting?

OK so it could very well be that the cat is bad. A spacer with a small catalyst may or may not work. You would have to just try it out.

They are pretty inexpensive so its definitely worth a shot plus once you pass your emissions you can install the spacer in the test pipe which should help keep the CEL off.

Dave wrote it out by process of elimination. He lowered the values and it still came on, so he just wrote it out. Catch is that now I live in CO and have to get emissions :-(

Your cat needs replacement. The spacer technique is for people who have added flow, so they move the sensor out of the direct path to trick the ECU into thinking everything is ok. Your situation differs, where you don't have enough flow.
