Does anyone in this area know of any mod-friendly dealers that won't hassle you if you have a tune? Has anyone had any experiences with mods and warranty service?

I have been told by customers of audi of Norwell that they are mod friendly. I will be speaking to them about my next audi and shedding all the bs that goes on here on the north Shore.

No audi dealer is "mod friendly" anymore. That is a thing of the past with the advent if their ecu modification detection in their computer systems.

Yep. Some might be more mod friendly for exhausts but for something like a tune the computer will detect it.

Service rep told me to get software for my car after hearing my Milltek at which point I showed him a picture of the pulley I just bought... he demanded a ride

He told just make sure to flash back to stock and they'll take care of the rest

Audi Shrewsbury, MA (Wagner) didn't give me any hassle about my AWE exhaust. I didn't ask about ECU tuning though. How does one bring that sort of thing up to them? Do you talk to the service rep or go right to the service manager?

Can you PM me your experience with them and mods? I currently go with them and was planning on doing stage II in the spring but I haven't talked to them too in depth about the situation. I got an alignment done after my drop and they even wrote "vehicle has aftermarket lowered suspension," which was surprising they had to take note of it.

First off, I'm essentially mod free. I have been to both Norwell and Westwood. Norwell did my 35k service sans DSG and I left Norwell pissed and said I would never go there again. My experience with Westwood couldnt have been better, my thermostat went on the way home from work as I was coming up 95. Called them late in the evening, they said no problem bring it in and we'll give you a loaner. I was in and out in 15 mins with a brand new A6 prestige loaner. I had them do the DSG service since it was in and they charged lower than the estimate they gave me. I think I paid $770. They called often and kept me in the loop (filter wasnt in so took another day) So, while I'm not yet modded, APR stage 2 coming in spring, Prime westwood has my business even though they are further away than norwell.

Fluid swap and filter change (you have to ask for the filter change specifically) I had mine done for a little over 500 from a good indy shop, a dealer will do it at 35k service and 75k service. The dealer will charge a crap ton, the quoted me over 1k for the 75k service.

General service has been great with Audi of Nashua, but if you get an ECU tune, they will void the warranty as other dealers do. I am not sure what their stance is on non-ECU mods, but from my general experience, I don't think they would have any issues with those type of mods.

I had my mechatronics unit replaced under warranty there a while back and was talking to the SA about what their experience has been on the B8's. He began to explain the only other mechatronics issue they saw on a B8 was the owner did an ECU tune on. He then told me they would not fix the mechatronics unit under warranty and the owner ended up paying ~$6K to fix the problem.

I really believe the dealers have no wiggle room on this now that Audi scans for ECU tunes.

Its not that there are friendly and mod-unfriendly dealers, its just that Audi will not pay them on any warranty issues if the car shows TD1.

This is why I have held off an any ECU mods until after the factory warranty has expired. I am thinking about moding this spring if / when APR runs their next sale. If I feel like spending ~$2K, I will go to Kaizen and go right to stage 2.

I think you're right and that the dealers that are "mod-friendly" may indeed be going extinct. The big thing is that our damn tuners need to provide home flashing so we don't have to take the car from shop to dealer to shop anytime there's a small problem.

Secondly, as I have said in other threads, dealers now also have a code like TD1 for coding changes on control units (VAG-COM) and audi flags your car with this code if the computer sees the coding changes which voids your electrical systems warranty.
