    2015 Audi S3, forged internals?

Hello all, considering selling my B5 S4 and picking up a 2015 S3 when its released. Was wondering if they come with forged internals?

The wikipedia page states:"It features new pistons with stronger bolts and new rings, as well as reinforced connecting rods with new mounts transferring the power to the crankshaft. The cylinder head is made of a new lightweight aluminium alloy designed with high strength and temperature resistance in mind."

Do the current 2.0 TFSIs have the above as well? Or is this unique to the S3?

Any predictions on what these will be able to make for power before going kaboom? Coming from a 450whp S4 I just want to get into something newer and this looks like it will also be able to make some good power.

No. Now the "FSI" engine that came in the 8P S3 and Golf R did have the same strengthened internals (e.g. they "strengthened" the same items in that engine as they are doing for the new MQB S3's TFSI) over it's other FSI counterpart. I can't really say if the internals in the current TFSI are any stronger than the previous FSI engine that came in the A3\B7 A4 etc.

Why does it matter if they are forged or not? Might be using a higher strength steel.

He was asking at what point they'll go "Boom!", not what HP the engine will be rated at in production form. I can't really comprehend what you are trying to get at in the last sentence there. I know it's generally agreed that 400 HP is about the threshold for the regular FSI\TFSI engines before built internals are essentially a requirement. I believe with the Golf R's (European S3's) FSI engine with the strengthened internals from the factory, pushing those engines north 50 more HP is ok. Beyond that, I have NO idea. I would assume, as stated above, the TFSI in the new S3 will be similarly built internally.

Because slapping on a bigger turbo, fuel and exhaust is better than slapping on a bigger turbo, fuel, exhaust AND opening the block and putting rods, pistons, etc in.....
