Alignment after H&R OE Spring Install?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Is it necessary to get an alignment after installing the H&R OE Springs? If so, how long do you guys wait before getting an alignment? Same Day, couple hundred miles, weeks?

    Thanks!

Yes you will need an alignment. It can be done same day. Take it to a good shop or a motorsports shop - it should take over an hour. Don't do the "free for life" Meineke job or Costco or any of those other places that hate cars.

I think you should do it after you have driven it for around 500 miles. I installed coilsovers at 36 miles and the car is currently at 500 and I still haven't done the alignment. I will be doing it pretty soon since it has probably settled by now.

If you get the unlimited alignment package from an alignment shop then do it now then again in 500 miles or so.

well here is the predicament...haha...I am moving on the 8th. The trip will put about 800 miles on my car. I am getting my springs put on the 6th. I will probably prob put about 100 miles on my car before getting an alignment on the 7th. Wondering if I should just make the road trip without the alignment and risk it, or just get the alignment after 100-150 miles and be safe and sound on my roadtrip.

The car takes a while to actually settle. I wouldnt align until at least a week after.

My car wasnt even fully settled after 24 hrs.

Not sure if it's worth it. I think the major change from a drop is camber, and the drop with OE springs is minimal. You'd want to drive it a couple hundred miles anyways. Just wait till after your trip.

I did my alignment immediately after. I drove a little but first, made a few corners and put some pressure all around then took it in.

I wouldn't drive 800 miles without an alignment. Worst case you go in and get it checked after a few thousand miles.

My camber up front didn't change after alignment sits at about -1.7 in back got a little better for tire wear at -1.3. However the toe is were it really helped. My toe was off quite a bit which can shred tires

This. Just have it down once the springs are installed by a good shop. If your concerned, any good shop will be willing to readjust if it changed significantly after the 800 mile trip without additional cost. At least that has been my experience.

I may just do some driving after the install and have the alignment done the day after. Don't want to chew up my new tires moving/driving.

If you're ever changing the ride height, always get an alignment afterwards. You should be able to do it the same day.

Many people talk about "letting the suspension settle", but to be honest, I have never found my ride height to change after I've done an installation. Get your alignment done as soon as you can.

In that case get the alignment done before the trip then get it checked after you get there to see if it has settled/changed.
