Enabling Ambient Lighting in SQ5

So I was following along in the AudiEnthusiasts.com site and couldn't get the ambient lighting working following their steps. something was missing because even when I did everything correctly I looked back in the car's system settings on the mmi and it always had the "interior lighting" option greyed out.

So I did some snooping around and found that if you follow the directions he gives PLUS in the hidden menu select car>carbusassignment> interior lighting *change from unassigned to "[CAN Komfort] 1/9". Reset the mmi and you're good. Not sure if others had this issue but thought I'd post just in case.

FYI, this applies to all MY2013+ models. When I was struggling with it, David @ AudiEnthusiasts was gracious enough to shoot me a PM with the extra step.

Step One: Enable Ambiance Lighting.
[09 – Cent. Elect.]
[Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 16 Bit 6 - Set this bit manually to “1” - (1 = active)

Unlock the hidden menu for the MMI 3g and activation of the footwell lighting

Select STG 5F (infotainment)
Adaptation 10
Channel number 06 to 1

The Hidden Menu can be the key combination + Car Setup (both keys together) open, where you have to first press the Setup button.


Enable Interior Light - Hidden Menu -> car -> cardevicelist



Hidden Menu -> car -> carmenuoperation -> Interior Light -> value to 5



FOR the new facelift model must additionally car / carbusassignment the value of interior light on CAN comfort set




MMI reset
MMI reset (facelift) Press and hold the function button -1 - (Menu), the confirmation button -2 -, as well as the navigation button -3 -. simultaneously The MMI then goes down and restarts Takes about 60 seconds.)

Turned off headlight squirters, enabled windows up and down.
Doing something wrong - cant get the headlights and key is on chime to stop with door open.

You're not doing anything wrong - there are a few other threads where the chime has been discussed. Something is different post-MY2012 and the brave folks who navigate uncharted VCDS territory have yet to find gold.

Bit 2-4 – Seat Belt Warning inactive

My dealer told me that chime could not be disabled, so I'm interested in seeing if this can actually be done. It's REALLY annoying.

Yeah...I've been able to disable all but the door beep. It's very annoying.

When yall say door chime you're leaving the key in the car, correct? When my key is in the car with the door open I get no chime.

Same, I think that happened with disabling seatbelt chime.

Vic, sorry to trouble you, but would you mind confirming? When the ignition is 'on' and the driver's door is open, you do NOT hear the chime?

I just tried this again - the coding was in there, but I re-entered anyway. Still no effect. This mod worked on my '12 Q5, but it has not taken on the '13.

Thanks, Dave! Good luck with the ambient lighting. I know the three steps within the hidden MMI menu have been an obstacle for some folks. Since I'm on the other coast I know this is a bit hollow, but I'm happy to help. I do enjoy that feature.

Follow the above procedure, it is tested on several models Q5 MY2013-2014. I did not try on MY2015

I also dislike the door chime (and found no way to disable it) but if you press the reset button on the bottom of the right (windshield wiper) stalk - it silences the beeps.....temporarily.

How did you get to the green screen to start this process? Very interested in trying this, since I have red foot well lights.
