I was wondering how difficult would it be to install s5 headlights on a a4, has anyone here done this swap before? I looked around but couldn't find anything.

They are different shapes, so I'm guessing it would take a lot of work (like converting your front end to an S5 front end).

will definitely need new front bumper and grille as they are different shapes, and then theres the question of if will be a straight swap and mount the same way, and also if it will even fit on the quarter panels, most likely wouldn't so you'd need to change the quarter panel front fenders too i'm guessing. not really worth it for the headlights. and IMO the A/S4 headlights and LED design looks nicer than the A/S5's.

Mounts points aren't exactly the same. Had to take off a few more nuts/bolts when removing a friends A5 front bumper compared to my A4.

the a5 sportback doesn't meet US regulation, and therefor we do not receive the option of buying it here in the states.

if your ready to do body work the go for it. this is pretty extensive conversion.

How does the A7/S7 meet US regulations but not the A5 sportback? They offer every other body style here except the A1, so cost couldn't be a factor. My guess is they don't want the cheaper A5 to cannibalize its sales.

Probably they just never bothered to certify it. I suspect it would but it costs millions to get any given car unibody to pass crash tests. It all comes down to market dynamics like you said, they want to get people into the most expensive car possible. But if BMW keeps doing all this stupid shit and creating vehicle classes that shouldn't exist (4-door lifted sedan SUV hatchback with 567 hp? Fuck yeah, they'll buy it, sell it) Audi may take notice and bring these other models over to compete. Personally I'd be all over an A5 Sportback, they look awesome.

BMW has the 335i grand coupe, so I really don't see why Audi doesn't jump on this. I would be the first to go for it
