DIY Brake light switch replacement on B7

I've searched for diy brake light switch replacement for some time didn't find anything helpful. So I thought I would write it up.
Took me 30 min at max
    Tools needed
Flat head screw driver, 5/16 socket with extension and rachet as well as new brake light switch bought from a stealership for about $12.00

Take down driver side lower consol panel: get a flat head screw driver and pop open fuse panel on the driver side of the consol then you'll see 5/16 bolt that you need to take off.On the lower side of the consol on each side another two 5/16 bolts that hold the consol panel take them down as well. Pull the panel towards you with a help of flat head screw driver to unlock little clip pins by the steering wheel on each side. It will come off then you'll see a interior foot light and your vag-com scan plug in. Just unplug the harnes and whole lower consol will come off. Then you'll see brake light switch next to your brake pedal. Rotate it 1/4 turn counter clockwise and then pull towards you. Whole thing will come off. Unplug the wire hurness. Plug the new brake light switch and do everything backward s to put it back together. Easy enough.

I will post some good quality pics soon. Hope it helps someone.

I used this guide when replacing the switch for my clutch which is very similar to the brake light.

Something worth noting from this thread that helped me a lot that you didn't mention was this:

"This is the important part. I have no idea why they made these things this way, but they seem to have some sort of "auto lock out" feature, so the next two pictures show you what I'm referring to. NOTE: the second picture is how it will need to be once installed!! If it's not "unlocked," the pin will not extend out which equals no brake lightness. "

You do need to mess with any auto locks that supposedly there if you have a OEM part you just need to twist it clockwise and that's it. It clicks and adjust it self. if you have a part from a store and its not made by audi oem then its your basically problem to figure it out how to instal it
