I know it can be done but seems like a huge pain in the ass due to the rear speakers being amped, has anyone done an aftermarket rear DOOR speaker swap and if so, how??
detailed replies would be more than appreciated, I can only find FAQs and how-tos on the sedan a4 b5 rear DECK speaker swap, any help / input would be greatly appreciated.
    cheers, Josh.

Ive got 6.5" Diamond Audio speakers in my rear doors in my sedan. All of my speakers are ran off aftermarket amps as well, with all new wiring ran.

*Edit* If Im not mistaken, the rear door speakers are 6.5" from factory and should be mounted the same way as the fronts.

I'll be watching very closely. I already have aftermarket front 5.25" (with the adapters) and rear door 6.5 speakers and was waiting for the right time to install. Like Spring.

So, do you have to run them through aftermarket amps?
The car ahead exist for only one reason. It's there to be passed.

Have an OEM cat conv and catback (including the downpipe) with 75K miles on them. Free. Pick up only.

The factory setup is a 2ohm output, so if the aftermarket speakers you got are 2ohm, then no. Technically you can run 4ohm speakers, but it wont sound as clean, as if you were to run them off a 4ohm amp.

I have aftermarket 6.5s in the rear of my avant. Powered off an aftermarket amp. The stock amp is tiny and weak and should definitely be replaced.

I'm hoping to do this soon. 5 of the 7 speakers are blown in my car. So it sounds like shit. So I want to replace with cheap kicker's for now. I can get them all (other than the sub) for about $100. Then I'll replace the amp. The sub seems to be a bitch. Really? A 6" sub? Wtf? I'm going to get an 8" and fab a housing for it in the stock location. If I can do all the speakers (sub and both amps included) for $300, I'd be happy as hell. Then I'll get my Alpine head unit. *drool*
