Anyone had issues with getting the manifold to seat on the injectors

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I pulled my manifold to do a carbon cleaning and cam follower and thermostat when I went to put the manifold back on it goes on but the injectors wont seat at first it was cylinder 1 so I took it off tried again then cyinder 2 then I tried again and it was cylinder 4 I have been at this out in the 36degree weather all day and I am about to take it to the dealership, this would be the first time I have ever taken my vehicle to someone else

has anyone else had this issue when changing injectors

I must say this whole design and engine platform is retarded everything is hard to get to and tight, I miss my b6

also I broke the accordian hose that is at the end of the pcv system that connects under the intake, should I replace it or run a catch can

Hard to tell from your picture, but are the o-rings still on the top of the injectors?

    X2 I don't see blue rings..

Take your time. My first time removing the manifold took me longer to put back together. Look over the stassis PDF make sure everything is there and lined up. You'll get it to fit

hmmm maybe not they might all be stuck in the intake manifold causing my issue, there was a oring looking piece on top of the injector but it was black and seemed to be metal and not removable. does anyone have a pic I'm gonna try to find one.

Check your fuel rail for the o-rings. Hopefully they didn't tear or you didn't break plastic seat under the o-ring. I did and could never get that injector to seal properly until I got an injector repair kit with a new one in it.

The first kit you linked is what I bought. For you I'd check the dealership or even europa since they are closer for you. Dealer price is usually about the same on this kit I believe.

Just FYI when I did this I replaced the blue o-rings but the replacements were black. Same part number, same size, just different color. I think I put a very light film of oil on the o-rings.

Make sure you're getting the manifold set on the two long guide bolts. After that it should slide down most the way pretty easily. When pushing it down make sure you're looking at the hard fuel lines, coolant pipes, and make sure any wires aren't getting stuck. Once it's most the way down it will just take a little push to get it fully on. Use the bolts to help fully seal the manifold but make sure you're doing opposite bolts and not going all the way on one side.

I've seen both blue and black o-rings as well. This is what the top of each injector should look like. Note there is a plastic seating ring below the o-ring.

I have an extra set of o-rings and plastic seat rings if you want them.

The plastic that sits under the O ring is designed with the slanted cut correct? I have set and I thought I broke them. Lol

just wanted to update and say thanks, You guys were all right the rings were lodged in the rail as seen below

so I removed them and reassembled, in the process I must have nicked the cylinder 3 o ring cause it still slowly leaked not visible but I could smell the fuel under the hood after a WOT pull
so I dissassembled again and found this

during the installation of the accordion pcv hose that I broke I broke this so now im gonna have to magyver some hoses together

also my cam follower only has 100 miles and the protective coating is already flaking??

all in all I have had the intake manifold off 10 times and boy am I sick of it lol but thanks for the help
