Question Need help deciding on a grille for a 2013 Audi A5

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello,

I'm looking to purchase the RS5 grille for my Ibis White 2013 Audi A5. I see a lot of users have purchased the Piano Black RS5 grille, but I was leaning more towards the chrome grille. I have made some mock photos of my car with the different grilles to further help finalize my decision, but was wondering what you guys think.

Ibis White 2013 Audi A5 Premium Plus 18" Wheels

    Original Grille

    Piano Black RS5 Grille

    Chrome RS5 Grille

Is it possible to find these grilles for < $400?

    Thanks!

I say keep what you have, and black the surround, or pick up the Ti/Black Optic grille. If you do go RS5, I say go with the black one. The Alu one is too loud for most applications.

I love the ALU color, but this time I would go with the black one to make contrast colors ;-)

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not sure what you mean by black the surround. Where can I pick up the Ti/Black Optic grille?

Thanks for all the responses, but I really like the chrome. My photoshop mock up does not give a proper representation of how awesome chrome looks with white. My next question is where can I purchase said grille?

    A5 Ti grille…

I don't see a difference between the Ti grille you posted here and my stock grille.

NVM.. the difference is the "black surrounding" you mentioned in your first post.

Chrome looks way out of place...doesn't even match your bumper's side inserts. Would definitely not go that route unless you have some plans to tie the whole front end together, otherwise I think it will stick out and not in a good way unfortunately.

The piano looks so amazing on white!

The piano is really nice. But, if you have your heart set on the chrome grille, maybe you can paint your side "spears" silver/metal color to match?

As for the headlights, it's just tint - and has since been removed. The tint kinda hindered me on going out to purchase real e-codes so I removed it so I can be reminded everyday of the ugly amber and work (save) harder to get a set of e-codes.

Bumper removal is straight forward, and I believe similar to the pre-facelift 5's. The stock grill is secured to the bumper with screws, but one thing I was not expecting was that the tabs on the bumper that fit into the grill were melted/pressed into place. I just grinded the tops off with a dremel to free them.

You'll also have to either trim the tabs on the top of the grill or widen the slots on the plastic piece above the radiator (near the hood release) for it to fit.

My grill was originally silver then plastidipped black. I did like the silver grill, but it was just way over the top so I dipped it.

Thanks for that detailed response! Also, what is the trim along the side of your car below the passenger door? Was that added on afterwards?
