You mean as in an upgraded in-tank pump? Darn, wanted to do exactly what you're doing (swap between 91 and E85) but if its gonna drain on my pump too much, maybe just stick to 91.

@EvolutionArmory, you said even running a TTRS pump that E85 is too corrosive?

A TTRS pump handles e85 as well as any other pump that’s not designed for e85. Ethanol is highly corrosive to certain materials hence some lumps work with it and some will fall apart. It’s all in the materials they’re designed with.

I know later b8.5 2.0ts were e85 compatible. I wonder if there is some sort of e85 compatible variant for the ttrs that mighty be available somewhere...

Yep, in tank. And that's what my current budget is going towards. Just need to make the decision of which way to go. I would still consider it an option. Map switch is less than 30 seconds. Personally I went with econ, 91, 93, and e85.

My current fueling issues could stem from a number of things though. I know one of my injectors is on a last limb (waiting to see what options or to go S3/Rs4/etc), and an old lpfp. Running 60%-75% felt amazing in the summer. Now that its cold, it having a harder time at the 75% and probably should have gone with a hotter spark plug.

Exactly. The TTRS pump can handle the volume just fine as it’s close to 300 LPH, just not the corrosiveness of the fuel. Unless that OEM pump is designed for flex fuel, it won’t last very long.

And yes, I mean an upgraded in tank fuel pump and a controller that won’t limit it. RS4 or PM4. PM4 would be ideal.

There are a couple guys using GM DI injectors and those handle E85 great apparently. Search for the Opel injector thread.

Depending on what turbo you’re running and the demands it will face on E85, you should get a DW300 or maybe even a DW400 and run a Torqbyte PM4. If I go any further with performance mods with this car, a DW300 and a PM4 are the first things to do. There’s no point in me going bigger turbo than K04 if the fueling can’t keep up. The PM4 can deliver over 30 amps I believe.

I've been watching haha, that's where I'm undecided to see what goes where. At the moment and for time being it'll stay k03. I've also wondered if the b8.5 pump would do anything? As they have a flex fuel option engine?

I think that the stock B8.5 pump would only be a good upgrade if it was a drop in part. You’d probably have to break it apart and put the guts in your B7 basket like you have to do with the TTRS pump. At that point, what’s the point? Just go aftermarket which will definitely work right.

This. When you get to the point of mixing and matching random bits from different platforms, you’re honestly better off just getting an aftermarket setup.

Just noticed that 034 motorsports has jumped on the self tuning bandwagon. Anyone use their tune/software?

They also has a flash loader for $250 which permits you to drop up to 5 tunes on the device, or the standard cable and your laptop option which is $150. It appears that you can data log via their software but they do not support custom tunes yet (states in developement) like IE can and will do. The data logging appears to be allowed in the cable/laptop method, but not the flashloader.

IE is $450 for the tune/software plus $150 for the cable.

034 is $500 for the tune/software plus $150 for the cable or $250 for the handheld flasher.

I'm glad to see tuners allowing self tuning like this. I wonder if any Audi tuning company will be able to take a leap into an app like MHD did for BMWs.

I looked at Motoza and didn’t see an 91 file, only 93. Did I miss it?

It's listed under the bundle option instead of the stage 1 or 2. 👍
That price is also with the Autotech HPFP, if you already have an upgrade, it'll bring the price down.

    Hey guys

    Quick question; I've a 2006 b7 2.0T wagon here in Tanzanian so can't really get a dealer for any of the tunes listed (or not listed) above;

can anyone recommend a tune (with best throttle response and fewer issues with cold starts and hot climates) that I can easily install by myself (via OBD2 port or other method that doesn't involve dismantling the ECU) with possible switching (to stock or other tune calibration)?

Tanzania? Damn! My mom grew up in Dar es Salaam.

Anyway back on topic, check out Motoza. Chances are you have a different ECU code compared to us but I bet Motoza would be able to convert their tune for your use. Or maybe it’s the same as ours and it’s literally just a simple flash. They do fully remote tuning so you get a OBD2 dongle from them and flash using your laptop at home. Integrated Engineering is another option. I have their tune on my wife’s Q5 and it’s great, however I don’t see their b7 tune listed on their website anymore so it’s possible they’re no longer supporting the b7 platform. Might be worth shooting them an email to find out. Their q5 tune is totally solid and behaves exactly like the factory tune, just with 50 more horsepower.

I'm in Dar es Salaam too. Nice place to be (is some ways).

I'll look into the recommendations you gave, thanks. So, just as a side note, how do I identity my ECU Code again (VCDS or should I open up the ECU)?

If you have VCDS that’s the way to do it. It will tell you your ECU number the moment it connects when you select engine. The last letter is the important one. Most B7 ECU’s end with a B or M but there are others too.

I DIY remote tuned both my B7 and MK4 for less than the cost of one big name OTS tune

This engine has been kicking around for 15 years and MED9 mapping is no secret rocket science, just need to look outside the north american model of over priced canned tunes.

Actually it was edited in WinOLS but not by me, started networking on some facebook ECU tuning groups and found a guy who will supply me with custom files, has great racing and dyno tuning history to back up and has hands on tuned pretty much every VAG engine since 2000.

My "Stage 1" files cost me 200USD$ for each my TDI and 2.0T, the cable for OBD port loading was another 100$, Read the ECU send out by email, get the tuned file back and flash it.

I'm learning as i go, it's a big ocean to dive into, basic stuff like IMMO off or 2nd o2 sensor deletes are fairly easy to hex edit, the maps i've loaded up and learned and played around some but i'm not loading my work onto anything yet.
