Winter Tire Pressure for 245/40 R18?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi,

I've got the stock 19" 255/35 OEM summer tires/rims on my 2013 S4, and bought a set of 245/40 R18 Blizzak LM-60s for winter. I don't know what tire pressure I should use for the winter tires. Can anyone help? I'm traveling next week, so I might try to switch this weekend to get a jump on it.

    Thanks.

Look inside your drivers door frame, should be a reference that's close if not a reference for 18's.

I recently did the same thing. The door jam says 41 PSI but the Blizzaks say not to go over 40. I filled all 4 of my tires to 37, reset the TPMS and so far so good.

I have the same size 245/40R18 but they are WS70's, I called tire rack with the same question and they said 41, same as stock. This will be my second season on them, no issues last year.

I do 38 front and 32 rear with that size lm-60s.

The tires have a higher load rating than the 18" all seasons that the manual describes.

I just swapped to my winter tires yesterday evening (also 18" LM-60's) It was around 40 degrees outside so I set them at 40psi, figure it will drop to 37-38psi in colder temps. Took it for a short drive to get some gas and then re checked/torqued the lugs. Car drives a bit softer but given my limited distance driven I will reserve final judgement after a few more miles. Drove the truck today so the car was parked. Im sure this car is going to be a beast in the snow.

In the newer S4 manual, it list the all weather tire pressures. For the all season light load, 36 lbs front, 32 lbs rear.

Some of the all season tires have higher load rating, such as the DWS 235/45-18 tire with a load rating of 98.

I would expect the winter tires to handle similar pressure as the all weather tires.

The door sill only lists the full load tires pressures, the manual has the light load pressures.

Life has taught me never try to make something idiot proof, they'll simply come up with a better idiot.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.
I have neither the time, nor the crayons to explain this to you properly.

I just put the winter shoes on yesterday. I am running 36 front 32 rear on Alpin PA3s. So far I am pleased with the ride. Thanks for the advise and opinions here.
