    Rear Hatch Opens Half Way

Wife and I have been toting plants on a plastic tarp in the rear of her Q5. I think the tarp may have gotten snagged in the latch on closing, as when we opened with the remote key the catch released but the hatch didn't go up, it appeared to be snagged. I very gently pulled on the hatch and it did come up but then seemed to catch at half open. With slow, steady (and gentle) pressure the hatch opened the rest of the way.

Now, every time we open the rear hatch with either the key or the switch in the driver side door, the hatch opens but hangs partially open. It will open the rest of the rest of the way only with my assistance. It seems to 'catch' and have resistance that feels like pressure from the lift shock, which lets loose after gentle and slow lifting, and opens fully.

    How do I fix this?

You may have accidentally set the lift height. In the manual it tells you how to set the maximum height you want it to open (idea being you may often park in a low garage and don't want intro fully open).
