Symptoms of a faulty/bad MAP sensor

I've been having an issue with my car which causes the car to run very rough. The car struggles to accelerate till it reaches around 40mph. I feel major preassure on the gas pedal everytime I go to accelerate after a full stop. I've also noticed that the RPM surges up a little while I am slowing down and sometimes will hold acceleration when I take my foot off the pedal. Also, it does this thing where I'll have my foot on the pedal (all the way) and there won't be a response for a couple seconds and then the car would rocket a couple seconds later. I've read somewhere that these could be symtoms of a bad MAP sensor but I am not sure. Please elaborate if you can.

Do you get any codes? Can you scan with VAG-COM? Sounds like a possible vac leak.

No codes what so ever I haven't been able to get my hands on a VAG-COM unit but I am planning to in the near future. And I replaced my vacuum lines thinking that was the problem originally but the issues still continued after.

What makes you think it's a MAP sensor? Do you mean MAF?

edit: Either way, it might be time to get familiar with your trusty multimeter.

No I don't mean the MAF because I replaced that too with a new unit but to no avail (I went on a part changing rampage). I was thinking it was the MAP sensor because I read somewhere that if your unit is faulty in can give incorrect readings to the ECU which can cause a slew of problems such as horrible gas mileage, limp mode due to the car running rich or lean, incorrect timing, and surges, all of which I've been having. I can fill up in one week and still have to fill up during the same week and I don't drive a lot (I have also replaced my fuel filter if anyone ask AND I've had my fuel pump test and its reading the correct pressure). While driving sometimes the car feels like it cuts off power (theres been been times where I hear the turbo kick in but no sort of response at all..the car just seems to accelerate at the same rate) and at the times if I floor it the car will delay for like 3-4 seconds and then I'll hear the engine rev up really loud and then I'll get some sort of significant acceleration. I've also noticed that during acceleration if I take my foot of the pedal the RPM meter will continue rising by itself for like 3 seconds and then begin to decrease. AND when I am slowing down it does the opposite were the RPM needle will be decreasing and then at around 1500 RPM will shoot up to around 2500 and then continue to decrease. Now I know I'm not crazy (or am I) but these aren't the signs of a normal/healthy Audi A4.

Try resetting your throttle.. and the RPMs going back up to 2500 from 1500 is just your car downshifting, I'm assuming you have an automatic..
    "Manual throttle body adaptation:

"The Throttle is "Drive By Wire" and adapts to your particular driving style. Do a TBA Throttle body adaption).

    1. Get in your car, it doesn't matter if you close the door or not.

    2. Turn the key to the on position, the position just before the starter turns over.

    3. Press the gas pedal to the floor with the key in the "on" position.

    4. Hold the pedal to the floor for five seconds, then turn the key back to the "off" position(don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.

    5. Wait 2 mins. for a full alignment. During this time you may hear very faint noises and clicks. I
only heard one sitting in my car, if I got out and popped the hood I might hear more.

    6. Drive the car as you always do.

Depending on your driving style, this may or may not be a big factor. I do a lot of city driving so
I noticed a big change after erasing my history. It is not hard to do this, just follow the
instructions - Key on, pedal down, 5 sec, key off pedal up, wait 2 minutes.

Keep the key in for the entire thing. "

this is also a sign of clutch switch(top) failing. assuming the car is manual

Let's see if resetting the throttle will do anything for him, he just sounds confused.. OP, is the car a manual or auto?

The car is just downshifting.. Put it in tiptronic and see what happens when you floor it.. If you know how to use it that is..
