Steering angle sensor not initializing with VCDS

I have steering angle faults which i believe to be cause by my alignment being off after i lowered the car. So i did an alignment and have been trying to get the car to initialize but i have had no luck doing it with my VCDS. Below is the instructions i have followed. If anyone has any feedback as to why this is not working for me please let me know. Thanks!

    ABS/EDL/ASR/ESP control unit (J104)

    Steering Angle Sensor (G85)

    Steering Column

There are certain test conditions that must be met before doing this procedure:

    Start the vehicle.

Turn the steering wheel one turn to the right and one turn to the left.

Drive in a short distance straight line on a level surface at a speed not higher than 20 km/h.

If the steering wheel is straight during the test drive then stop the vehicle with the wheels pointed straight

Ensure that the steering wheel is not moved again.

Keep the engine running and do not switch off the ignition.

That's correct, have you ever had your steering wheel off? The clock spring can be 180 out. You can check to see if its reading the zero position with vag also.

OK. I got my ESP module re-coded. I wasn't able to code it to S4 code, but it took the RS4 code no problem. I still can't get the steering sensor to adapt. Any ideas?

I did more research and it turns out the sensor may be incompatible. I'll see if I can exchange it.

Thanks for following up even though you didn't get exactly widespread response. This is good info for someone with a similar problem.
