    Audi A4 Speaker Replacement

I recently bought a used 2001 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro with the Bose Symphony system. It's a great car and I love it so far, but of course there are a few minor things wrong with it for being a 12 year old car. One of these things is my rear deck speaker on the driver's side, which is busted.

I took it to my sound guy and he said he didn't have any speakers that would work with the Bose Symphony. They are Bose 6.5" (165mm) speakers. I can only find a couple OEM speakers online.

My question is: What speakers would work in my A4? Is there something special about the Bose Symphony that won't allow me to use any 6.5" speakers?

I'm not a audiophile and would be okay with a little sacrifice in sound quality, as there are other, more important things to fix at the moment, but I also don't want it to sound like .

Any and all information helps, even if it's not even related to the speakers. Thanks guys

the bose speakers are 2 ohms, any regular speaker is 4 ohms. you can put some speakers, but you will not sound loud. maybe replacing the radio, speakers is a better route

    good luck

Is it a B5 or B6? In any case, the rear deck speaker in the Bose system in either model is a 2-ohm 6.5" woofer. It is not a full range speaker. ANy decent car audio shop should be able to recommend replacements (but they ain't cheap).

You should start by working out whether the fault is the woofer, wiring or the Bose amp.

I actually went in there and disassembled the rear deck and the speaker just had a loose cap. Pretty good news. I bought some flexible Loctite and glued it together and it sounds just fine. Thank you both for your help.

Taking out the rear deck brought me to another question. The plastic clips used to cover the screws on the rear deck were sun worn and falling apart on my car. Any idea where I can pick up some replacements? No luck online

Did you check genuineaudiparts.com? They usually have a big selection of hard to find OEM stuff.

Those things are about the only item I couldn't find on that website. I looked for a solid 30 minutes. Thanks though, that's a good place for any part. If anyone knows where to get these or has a few spare it would be greatly appreciated
