Reverse signal wire for reverse camera

I just got a reverse camera for my pioneer double din and searched for couple hours with no luck in finding the reverse signal wire. I could use the reverse light but don't really want to route a cable from the front all the way to the trunk.
I tried the reverse light fuse #31 but that has 12 even if not in reverse.

I even PM'ed the user who gave me the link to the camera I got but he never replied, this was a couple days ago, I'm still hoping.

In the meantime if somebody knows which is the wire please let me know so I can finish the installation tomorrow. I'll remove the center console around the shifter tomorrow and try measuring those wires but not even sure what I'll find in there. I Lready have the trunk liner, lock, handle and plate lights out, I just need to find that one wire.

What installation harness are you using for your Pioneer? Since it's all CAN bus stuff, it may differ between harness manufacturers.

Edit: Car doesn't supply this signal via CAN so I'm wrong.

I think you'll need to splice into a 12v reverse light wire, because I couldn't find any reverse signal wire in my eBahn manual. On my sedan, it's either M16 or M17 (blue/red wire) on the 23 wire black connector. Anyone else, please chime in if this isn't the right connector/wire.

There is a reverse wire.......I have the Enfig Harness and it has a reverse wire, and its easier to tap into.....

chip in your sig it says you have car stereo stuff for sale. if you ever setup the audio system in your car dont you have a signal wire going to the trunk for the amp on? if you do just extend that wire a bit and your golden.

He wants a wire that will tell the rear-view camera that he's in reverse...not that the stereo is on...

my point was if he is selling that stereo it leaves me to believe that it was once hooked up in his car if it is no longer hooked up he can take that wire and tap the reverse lights and then take the other side of the wire and disconnect it from the amp signal and connect it to the reverse camera signal wire. i say this so he wouldnt have to run a wire through the car again

I'll look at this probably tomorrow, I messed with my exhaust all day today.

Great idea, to be honest I forgot which wire I pulled out when removed my amps and woofers. But as you said if I still have that wire it's easy, thanks for the tip.

i think i might actually run a extra wire when i do my amp just incase i ever get a reverse camera lol

Christian @ Enfig told me that for my B7 (2005.5) that their harness does supply a reverse signal for activating a backup cam via CAN-BUS. Certain models/years may not. I would check with him.

The question is now is the reverse wire signal a 12V wire? In the worst case I will just pull the wire from the back but I don't want to burn something in the radio if that wire has to be a lower voltage.

there is a fuse for that but it's for something else too and there's always 12V on there even if not in reverse.

I ended-up using getting the reverse signal from the reverse light. I still had the remote cable for the amp in the car which I tapped onto the red/blue wire into from the driver side

Sorry for the late response but our radio installation harneses do give the reverse wire on 2007-2008 A4. I'm pretty sure it does for 2005.5-2006 but not 100%. I'll update the link to the enfig SRWH as soon as I know.
