XS Power Audi TT 225 Turbo Back Exhaust Install and Review

Well I've just come over from the Subaru side of things and found that some of the stuff I was used to getting really "inexpensively" was quite pricey when it came to same parts for my TT. So what's the first thing every good gear head does when he buys a new car? Why a brand new shiny stainless 3" exhaust system of course! I got a perfectly good system for my WRX for about $600 turbo back. How much does the same run for my TT? $1200+!!!!! Ouch! That's really going to cut into my upgrade fund! So I searched and searched and read reviews and listened to sound clips on youtube and couldn't find an exhaust that I even liked the sound of let alone wanted to drop $1200 on. While looking at downpipes on E-Bay I ran across a brand called Relentless performance that seemed pretty nice (and cheap), so I started searching reviews for it, turns out everyone with an open mind seemed to be saying good things about it and then I ran across a thread that said they were coming out with a 3" cat back exhaust soon! Turns out there was a youtube clip of it as well and it actually sounded good! I contacted the guy that started the thread and got on the wait list with a $65 deposit. 3 short weeks later the system arrived and it looked REALLY nice! At the time my awesome TT gauges were out being rebuilt so it took me another couple weeks to put it on but I finally got it installed last Friday night. It sounds GREAT, not too loud, and it has made a HUGE difference in the performance of the car, compared to my WRX it felt really choked at the top end but no longer. Really like it and saved enough to buy a FMIC and still have $200 left over. Pictures and install to follow soon, will try to get something up on youtube as well.

Hate to rain on your parade dude, but this thread is kinda pointless without pictures, videos, or sound clips. Do Relentless a solid by doing a proper write up. Mine comes in today. I will take pics of everything and post a quality video when I get it together next week.

i got the 3" relentless-XS power downpipe on my 01 TT 225Q with a borla 2.5" catback. that downpipe makes the boost gauge hop. has a good sound but not to loud. i was concerned with droning so i stayed away from a full 3" system. a bit of work to install the downpipe on a quattro car, catback was easy + installed in about 90 minutes in my garage by me

I went with a full 3" exhaust and ended up having to install a 2.5" DynoMax glass pack as a mid-muffler to eliminate the drone. Easy fix and sounds great, but I think a 2.5" catback is probably the way to go if sound is a concern.

As far as installing the downpipe, you do need to drop the subframe a bit. I tried everything and eventually gave in. Only four bolts to loosen it enough to get the downpipe in. They are stretch bolts, so you should replace them. I've got them (had to order them), but haven't put them in yet. The old bolts are plenty snug.
