Those are just some folks that said "hey, let's call ourselves X." Most clubs like that aren't officially recognized by Audi. Most groups that have get togethers end up fading away at some point. Over the years I've been an Audi owner, I've seen groups and clubs come and go.

If you want to join something, join ACNA and the Audi Club of Southern California - which are recognized Audi groups. http://audiclubsocal.org/

Otherwise, just show up to get togethers, meet some folks, and have fun. You don't need a club for any of that.

You dont really need one unless you get benefits in making a club IMO. I used to be in a team or car club that get support from shops that are sponsoring our team. It's nice to have the feel of comradery, but you can feel that on any meet now a days. As Dan said, clubs comes and goes, but friendships you make in a club never fades.

Actually both ACOC and SDAC are in the works of becoming associated, recognized, and backed by ACNA. True fact, so we aren't just another group if you would like more info come out to a meet.

What does this mean? What are the benefits (to the members) of being "associated, recognized, and backed"? By backed, do you mean financially?

What it means is that you'll have to pay a fee to join, and that the clubs will be more "exclusive."

You also may get Quattro Quarterly...and a handful of goodies.

Not necessarily, right now we don't have a fee for membership we are obviously exclusive to Audis. If you want to check it out then do so if not that's you're business but right now we don't charge or force you to join ACNA.

This is true, but as an ACNA chapter, you would.

I don't know if that will actually come about since socal is already a chapter and that would make them break us into sub chapters and I don't think that's the plan but I will for sure keep the AZ community updated with the details. I do see your points Dan, which are valid concerns for others. I can say right now I wouldn't sell out and force all my members to pay for an ACNA membership and I don't think SDAC would either.

Good. One of the hardest parts of forming a group is getting folks to feel connected. Sometimes, without intending to do it, forcing them into a membership is a direct way to disaster.

I, for one, hope that you guys are very successful and around for a long time. I'm just a realist.

On the surface, the ACNA has allot of credibility and prestige behind it. Problem with it, at least here in S. Cal, most of the members are silent and inactive. The ones who are active consist mostly of a group of retired age track buddies. So most of what goes on with the S. Cal Chapter are track events. They do have a couple of cool drives which I am sure were unique at a time before social media broke out. As Dan mentioned, there have been several audizine members and groups of members (such as myself) who have helped formed local Audi enthusiast events and or unofficial grassroots "clubs" like ACOC and ACSD. One of the most overlooked benefits of ACNA is they have liability insurance to protect it's members organizing and putting on the events. In the case of an accident, injury or death tied to an event, this could be huge. There is also allot of desire by the individual dealers and even by many of the sponsors here on audizine to help support Audi Club events. Right now, the S. Cal Audi Club is at a bit of a crossroads. They are open to making the club more appealing to all its members and potential members but unless they can actually recruit some of the talented and creative enthusiasts from these forums to actually help steer the ship, I don't personally see things changing much.

I am grateful for the S. Cal Audi Club's support of our Quattro de Mayo Nethercutt - Robinson Ranch event last Spring. It was a pleasure to produce it with them and we thank the Audi Club members and S. Cal Audi community for their participation and praise. I'd be willing to help produce more of these types of events under the wings of the club however, it takes quite a bit of time and effort and I really don't want to do it so much on my own with little help from other club members.

If anyone has ideas or would like to get involved with planning some great events under the endorsement of the S. Cal Chapter of ACNA, please pm me.

Come to our meet for ACOC, Audi Club of Orange County, next Sunday October 13th at Euro Cafe in Costa Mesa and you'll get a feel for it. We might even take off on a cruise right after everyone has eaten and woken up fully. PM myself or Kris slvrb7 and we will give you more info.

UPDATE!! The S. Cal Chapter of the Audi Club NA does mean business in revamping their events. I was recontacted over the weekend. There should be some very exciting events (some on regional area basis) in the works very soon. I.E SD , OC, LA, North LA, etc.

If anyone in LA, Conejo, SF Valley, Santa Clarita and or Antelope Valley is interested in helping out with planning some events, please pm me.
