Looking at 2011 A4 Premium Plus

    I am considering buying a 2011 A4 Premium Plus.

Long story short, this is the car I wanted in the first place but bought a subaru legacy being more fiscally responsible.

Last week someone (read as: some idiot) turned left in front of me and crushed the front of the subaru. It is going to take at least month to fix and because that car is only a few grand from being totaled I started looking at Audis again.

I found a 2011 A4 Prem+ for 25,500 with 36k miles. It is not at an audi dealer, and I am thinking of buying it and just selling off the subaru when it is out of the shop in 4-6 weeks. I know the CPO vehicles are not perfect, but esp with a higher end car like this I know that CPO can come in handy. So essentially I am curious about what I should watch out for if I test drive the car, and am I asking for trouble not getting a CPO vehicle?

This is exactly the car I wanted in the first place (car, color, features). Based on the price I am guessing it may have had body work done to it after an accident or something since it is cheaper than non cpo 2010s from my local audi dealer. And of course I would get a vehicle history report before I bought it. I know this car isnt super far away from running out of the factory warranty as well so like I said I am just looking for opinions and suggestions.

For what it's worth, CPO started working for me between purchasing the vehicle, and picking up the keys in the form of a new set of racing tires; because the dealer didn't like the look of the tires she had on her. Since then I've had 2 dings removed, 2x new rims, a new key FOB, a new key FOB battery, my system checked for a boost leak, a new steering hose applied, and some new software applied to the ECU. Next week she's going in for her 70k km service where she'll have an oil change done, new wipers put on, amongst some other work. I'll have to see what next week's service date will cost, bu so far, I've paid $0 for the work done...to say that a CPO warranty comes in handy, I would agree with that.

For what its worth, buying a CPO car gives you remainder of the factory warranty + 2 years, or a total of 6 years from the in-service date. My CPO 2011 30th Anniversary Edition (purchased in May) has warranty until fall 2016 .

However, if you're looking to mod your car and take it to stage 1 or higher, then a CPO warranty isn't worth it. So, the question is, what are you looking to do with the car?

I don't really have any intention of modding the car, if I did it would probably be no more than a chip.

The main thing is that only 2 audi dealers are in the MN twin cities area, owned by the same owner/company, and they want $500 more for a 2010 A4 with only the basic package, which lacks features that I refuse to buy a car without.
Of course part of the additional cost is that the 2010 is a cpo vehicle warranty, and I realize that. This is more of just a sudden thing becuase my car is out of comission for at least a month and from looking at carsoup I could probably walk away from the subaru without losing ore than $1k, and I can live with that if I wind up with a car I really love rather than just one I don't mind.

Does audi offer any form of aftermarket warranty? I know they have audicare which is more of a service plan for the maintenance. And obviously there are companies that sell 3rd party extended warranties on cars, but I have to assume they are probably not the best deals.

Go with a CPO. I have a 2010 and its nice not having to worry fixing anything. I had a new turbo put in last week . I have a 2010 premium plus with 40k for $25,000. No dings or dents, came with brand new tires and brakes all around. Leather was perfect. Its worth getting a CPO if anything goes wrong with this car your going to pay BIGGG $$$$$$$ if you buy a non-CPO and what are you really saving a couple K to start with.

Should the Factory Warranty transfer to me? It would have ~ 2 years/15000 miles left.
Overall I generally only drive something like 7-10,000 miles per year, mainly depending on how much I go out of town. So I would probably hit the end of the 4 year warranty before the mileage, or it would be about even.

Also, if the car is not bought from an audi dealer, can I still go to the dealer and purchase audicare to cover the maintenance?

Like I said this is kind of a spur of the moment thing, I ran across the car just screwing around on carsoup and it seemed like a reasonable deal and had the features I wanted.
but based on approximate value of my subaru, and the fact that I can cancel the extended manufacturers warranty on that and get money back for the time remaining, I should be able to get what I still owe on the loan back, or at least close.
