Does anyone else's wipers make this noise?

These are brand new wiper blade refills, from Advance Auto Parts, didn't need to cut them since they were about the same exact size (a few cm in difference). It sounds like it's just the right one, and only when it hits the top. Everything else is perfect, they wipe great without any streaking or anything, just that noise they make.

It's them hitting the A pillar or the roof.. Cut them down or adjust your range of wipe.

Good thought, but just checked it out and it's not that, I stopped them at their highest point.

I'm starting to think it could be the wind guard thing that's on it?

I thought I was the only one, do you have aftermarket refills too? Or OEM?

Best advice I can give you is to replace them with the later version Aero wipers. Well worth the $$. I shoulda done it sooner....

Mine are OEM wipers. I even had the dealership install them and went back after it rained because it sounded terrible. They told me its normal and I just laughed and said so hearing an annoying creek from wipers is normal on a luxury car. I just left as I know the aero wipers are an option but I still don't believe that noise is "normal."

That's the route I was going to take, $40 for blades at the dealership vs $100 Aero wipers, I was going to go for the Aero's until I finally found the refills for less than $10. I can't justify paying $100 for the Aero's anymore =/

Ha...I doubt it's normal. I really haven't noticed or paid attention to them in other cars Toyota, Honda, Etc. A good question would be if BMW/Mercedes make this noise as well with OEM's.

mine had that annoying noise as well. I adjusted the wiper arm (driver's side) so that it wouldn't sweep so far to the left (was hitting molding on the a-pillar).

If you don't think it's the a-pillar, next time it's making the noise, roll down your window, reach forward along the a-pillar until you feel the wiper blade smacking your fingers.

    then you'll know.

mine would only slap the pillar at speed with a goodly amount of rain. I think wind pressure + slippery water + sloppy linkage = noise

I uploaded 2 pictures earlier in the thread, that's as far as they reach. I'll put my fingers on the side pillar just in case to see if it hits it or not. Wind pressure or amount of water don't affect the noise. It could be sprinkling on the lowest speed while the car is parked it will still do it.

It's a slapping noise. I forgot, the way the dealer explained it is like rubber filling is flipping when it reaches the top and that's what the slapping noise is.

It's more of a slap. On the video it doesn't sound exactly the same as in person, it actually sounds different in the video, it sounds 10x worse in person.

Yeah that makes "sense" but should happen -_- When the blades go up the rubber is facing one way, when they go down they have to face the other, so the transition from the rubber filling changing directions/positions is making the noise, but again it should be happening. This must mean the arm is putting a bit too much pressure on rubber making it a bit hard for the rubber to flip the other way. I'm going to try to pull the arm a bit to see if it fixes it.

That is almost as annoying as mine, I get a super HIGH PITCHED squeal from the drivers side when it changes direction and goes back down. I hate using my wipers now.

Does the squeal just happen while it is changing directions/at the highest point? or does it do it while it goes down as well? I used mine yesterday for the first time in a few weeks and I got annoyed.

I second this. It's well worth it to upgrade to the Aero wipers.

Pretty much during the whole way back down until going back up again.

    Up is silent
    Down is squealing.

Aero wipers or go home. It is a great upgrade. I ditched those crappy ones you have as soon as I could.
